Was able to fax the forms to the claims center. They were acknowledged within 2 days and within the week and I was notified as to what amounts to expect as reimbursement. They do not pay for "consultations"--(the Vets examination necessary before the Vet institutes treatment). Unlike human health insurance, they were true to their word and reimbursed 90% of the bills after I paid my deductible. Took about 2 weeks to received the checks in the mail. The Vets wanted a deposit up front--as soon as we said we had Trupanion insurance, they went right to work. I am so glad we had the insurance! Our Marcus is healthy and happy again due to the excellent and immediate care received. Great investment and peace of mind.

Friendly people. Great coverage.

I love the people at Trupanion. They are all pet lovers and genuiney concerned about or dog, TJ. The only problem is if you have a pet that does not use it very often, you would be better off taking the money you would spend on insurance and putting it in a savings account to use for your pet when needed. There have been a few times that we filed a claim and got back less than we paid for our monthly premium, meaning we would have been better off without it. On the other hand, TJ recently needed surgery and without Trupanion, we would not have been able to afford it. We are happy with Trupanion overall.

Trupanion = Awesome pet insurance

I have owned labrador retrievers a long time and had another pet insurance that really did not pay for anything as they said it was "pre-existing" ... ugh.. I thought all pet insurance plans were like then and stayed away from them. Then we got two more lab puppies and my hubusand was told that Trupanion was a good insurance. While a bit skeptical, we decided to get it anyway. When my black lab, who at one of year of age, started to limp, and found out that she needed TPLO surgery, I so happy to have pet insurance. The surgery alone is well over $3,500. Trupanion paid 90% of that. And they processed the claim better than my health care company. Trupanion has awesome people working the phone & email. I can't say enough about how happy I am with Trupanion. If you have an animal, it's the best gift you can buy your pet to know that when a illness or injury happens, you won't hesitate to get everything done on your baby, because you have Trupanion!

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
