Easing the Cost of Pet Care

Trupanion pet insurance was the smartest purchase we have ever made. We are life long pet owners and this insurance has made a big difference for us. It has really helped with the medical costs for our otherwise healthy pet's unexpected illnesses. No problems, no hassels just prompt and efficient service. Thanks Trupanion!

It was really easy to submit our vet bill to Trupanion. I would really like to see it become an online option though, to make it even easier.

Very Pleased

My dog had several illnesses that needed treatment, and within a couple of days of filing my claim with Trupanion I received confirmation of the filing, status updates, and finally a timely reimbursement. I had another company in the past, but it doesn't even compare with the service and follow through that I've received so far with Trupanion.

Trupanion: Loyal, Helpful & Priceless

Words can't describe how helpful and sympathetic the folks at Trupanion were when our 6 month old Klee Kai had a horrible accident. Friends were pet sitting her while my husband and I travelled abroad. While being with them, she was on a walk and got loose from her collar - long story short, she fell/jumped into a basement parking lot ramp and fractured her 7th vertebrae. Initial emergency care specialists thought she could have neurological damage, later she was taken to a specialist clinic where she had an MRI and subsequently massive surgery to reconstruct her fracture vertebrae and fix it in place with cement, steel plate and screws. In total, the bills came close to $11,000. When I called Trupanion from abroad and explained the situation, not only were they immensely helpful and sympathetic, but they calmly reassured me that they were there to help and they would do anything they could to help us save our puppy - they didn't disappoint. Their claim approval process was lightning fast - we wanted to make sure the claim would go through before committing to spend $11k, so they went out of their way to make the pre-approval happen in a matter of hours. After the operation (which went extremely well), Trupanion stayed in touch with us to make sure our dog was OK and to see if they could help with anything else. I can't think of a better example of world-class service I've ever been exposed to. Without Trupanion, we would've had to euthanize our puppy, but

I have had to file a few quite expensive claims nothing has ever been questioned other than are you making sure Katie (my dog)is getting the very best possible care that can be provided (1 ethalyene glycol toxification ) ( 2tpol left knee ) (3 tpol right knee ) this is an exceotion company with exceptional people

Monthly Cost

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.

Coverage

One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice. To view a full list of inclusions and exclusions, check out our sample policy here.

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
