Trupanion

I took out pet insurance when I got my new puppy. I took out a policy that had a $50.00 deductible per claim. I have only had one claim to date and it did not qualify for reimbursement as the claim was not over the regular office visit. My total premium with tax is $64.00 per month. It seems like a lot of money but I know there will be a time when I will need this policy. I think of it as less than a take out coffee per day. Instead of paying a huge Vet bill when I will need it, I am paying is slowly over time. It is a lot less painful to pay $2.00 a day than a bill that could bankrupt you. Yes we will do anything for our beloved companions!!

Fantastic response to our emergency.

Our dog, Molly, was experiencing laboured breathing caused by a foreign object in her lung. The condition required an emergency lobectomy. Trupanion honoured the claim and we received payment in less than 10 days. We have and will continue to recommend Trupanion to our friends.

very helpfull and quick to process

My standard Doxie got an unknown virus that ended up her in the hospital for 2 days and took over 2 weeks and 2 different vet hospitals (had to change for labor day weekend. She's great now and trupanion had not issues with the different bills and different hospitals. They realized it was the same claim and everything was processed and check in hand within 10 days.

ok, but took long to get the money

I mailed all of the claims into the address. The company claimed that they were not received. I had to call, and then pay for faxing the forms. The faxing came to over $27.00. The i DID GET THE MONEY. But the exams that were related to the condition were not covered.

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
