Awesome company!

My cat unfortunately developed thymoma, which is a tumor of the thymus. It was first detected by X-ray and was ultimately treated by chemotherapy, followed by surgery. Trupanion covered 90% of all the medical costs, from diagnosis to surgery, which was critically important. The initial claim took a few weeks, since it was my first claim. After that the claims only took about a week to process and pay. They were sensitive and responsive. I will use them again with my next cat.

Insurance performed as advertised. Happy with it.

The insurance paid for everything they promised in the policy. Claim was submitted by email and was processed quickly. Overall we are happy and will remain with trupanion.

Glad we used this company

Our Rottweiler is having allergy problems, we tried taking different foods out of his diet to see what he was allergic to, with no luck. Our vet suggested blood tests for food and the environment. Now we know what the problems are and Trupanion helped us cover cost of those tests.

Payment of Claims

This company was not all it cracked up to be. I thought I did my research. I should have know that a lot of raved reviews meant that the bad ones were taken off. I sent my claims and they catagorized my pet condition as a 'pre-existig' condition. We had no idea about our pet's condition and it had never been diagnosed to us. But they sure did wizzle out of paying the claim. Beware of Trupanion. My understanding is that if a certain dog comes with certain genectic concerns it is easy for them to say that it was a pre-existing condition. My dog is a shepherd and is only two years old and they commonly have displasia of arm or elbow. We purchased her and there was no such problem with her. Yet, Trupanion argues that it was a 'pre-existing' condition. I learn...stay away from this company.

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
