Reliable and ethical

They have been easy to work with and truthful in their description of their policy. My cat has a pre-existing condition, but they did not use that to disallow claims for other unrelated illnesses. The Trupanion Express policy allowing faster payment is also very helpful, although luckily I have not needed to use it. The policy of only raising premiums by evaluating area usage, not the pet's age is also good.

Great Customer Service

Trupanion sends and email when they receive my claim and when they process the claim. Both emails usually arrive the same day. I get the reimursement in approx 1 week from when they receive the claim. Every time I call I get a live person answering the phone. If I send an email I get a response the same day or next day. Overall awesome insurance company. Better customer service and ease of use than health insurance for people!

Excellent and compassionate!

Great customer service, easy to get a hold of them. They don't treat it like a business they are actually very compassionate and follow up to make sure your pet is okay. My claim was a complicated one but they were very accommodating and made the process easy on my end. When they received our medical information they arranged payment right away.

Fast service!

Trupanion has been great so far for my 7 month old puppy. They were very fast with the claims and provided detailed reports on what was approved and what wasn't. It was also very nice that they have direct deposit. :)

Awsome

Trupanion has been a great finacial help to us as one of our cats has been seriously ill. The process to send a claim is virtually painless and the customer service is impeccable.

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.

Coverage

One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice. To view a full list of inclusions and exclusions, check out our sample policy here.

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
