Very Good!

Pleased to have the money available for our vet emergency but still a shock to have to pay for the vet and the GST. This left us out of pocket a significant amount. However, it made it bearable and doable to help our kitty. Wish there was an automatic 'pay directly' option as opposed to having to pay up front. The high costs make it prohibitive at times and makes it stressful to have to borrow from others.

Very satisfied

I said that when I got a new puppy I would get insurance. Working in the veterinary field I know that with all the technology and diagnostics available to pet owners it would be a wise decision. I have not been disappointed with Trupanion's customer service, their payment and claim processing is prompt and timely. I have them pay my veterinarian directly and there has been no delay there either. Two thumbs up! The one downside is the fluctuation in premiums, after about three years of coverage my premiums are about 15% higher than at inception.

Helped with cost coverage.

This was the first claim I've made through Trupanion and it did help with the cost of coverage considering the amount of testing, hospitalization, and care our cat needed. The costs can really add up as symptoms were sudden and non-specific to her condition.My only complaint is that one of their representatives left a message on our voicemail and her accent was so strong I had difficulty understanding her message. I called back and left a message for her to call me to clarify her message and she never did.

Easy Claims Process

I have been satisfied with our claims process, it's about as easy as my flexible spending account. There was a little bit of a learning curve with us and our vet office missing information early on, but the longest claim length of time was under two weeks and most of that was our vet not supplying the info needed (missed a section on the claim form). Just like any other insurance you hope to never need to use it, but want the peace of mind to know it's there when you need it.

I'm happy I had doggie insurance

My dog had a liver shunt. When I took her to the surgeon they wanted pymt in full. They opted to get preapproval from trupanion. It took hours due to a fax problem at trupanions end. By the end of the day we had approval and my dog had her surgery. I was very pleased.

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
