Our male cat Possy had gastritis and vomiting again, he had it last year too. I don't know what we would have done without Trupanion insurance as the vet expenses were very high to treat him. The fact that the deductible was already met is a fantastic benefit. Trupanion responded quickly to our claims. We are grateful to be able to help our cats when they are sick.

My two pets have used the insurance many times over the last three years. They saved me a lot of money. I don't always need it but when I do it is very helpful. I recommend them to everyone I know that is buying a puppy or has a pet!

I have a 7 year old Chihuahua mix named Nikita and I have been with Trupanion for a few years now and they have been great helping out with a couple illnesses here and there. I thought it was great to have it as we never know what can happen, but considering how healthy Nikita always has been, it never crossed my mind that anything serious could ever happen to her. About a month ago, Nikita started breathing faster than usual and lost her appetite so I brought her to my local vet where they sampled her blood, took some xrays but nothing was really showing up besides that she had a fever and maybe fighting a little bug. The following days she still wasn't feeling great so I brought her in again, 4 days in a row but still not really any reason why she was not feeling good. The 5th day her breathing got extremely fast, over 100 breaths per minute so I took her into the emergency room where she was put into an oxygen chamber immediately. She got better with the oxygen the first day, and they ran a bunch of test, put her on antibiotics but still no explanation. The second day her breathing went back up and the third day she was breathing so fast they told me she probably was not going to make it through the night and that we had 2 options: put her down or put her on a ventilator, which is an expensive option where only 20% of the dogs that go on it survive. I called Trupanion and asked if they would pre approve the claim and pay the hospital directly, within an hour I got approval and was able to proceed on putting Nikita on the ventilator knowing that they would cover 90% of the costs, wow. I was so impressed and also relieved to know that the financial part was covered and I could just focus on Nikita rather than stressing about the money aspect. A couple days later Nikita was able to get off the ventilator and the next day she was back home with us, finished her antibiotics and her lungs were clear, her breathing normal and slowly started getting back to herself. Now she is back 100%, my best friend got to live and she is enjoying life to the fullest. I cannot thank trupanion enough for the support they provided me throughout the whole process. I would recommend to anyone that care about their animal to get pet insurance with them, their coverage is the best and you never know when you might find yourself in a situation where you have to chose to save your pet's life or not and the money part should not be what decides if he or she gets to live or not. Trupanion covers all my dogs. Two of them have had surgeries of over $7,000 covered at 90% after my deductible by Trupanion! Trupanion also paid my vet directly over $6000 on each claim and I was only responsible for my 10% and deductible when I left the vet! By having the coverage I was able to do the surgeries my vet recommended without making decisions based on funds in my bank account. Trupanion doesn't cover exam fees, doesn't cover shots, but that's not what I have insurance for, any illness or injury and Trupanion has our Tails covered!
