I <3 Trupanion

When I got my dogs, the first thing I did was insure them. I thought that they meant so much to me that I never wanted to have to decide if it was too expensive to heal them. 3 years after starting, my dog Jake tore his CCL. My vet told me he could do a quick surgery for about $2000 and my dog would get about 20-30% of his leg back. One call to Trupanion and they said they would do whatever it took to get him all fixed up and now you can't even tell he ever had an injury. Two years later his other leg has gone, and it was even smoother. My boy is recovering sitting next to me and I am so grateful that I am not being hit with a $6000 vet bill.

Good, but only b/c I'm stuck with them

I enrolled my dog in Trupanion back in 2008 when they were called Vet Insurance. Back then, they were great. Low monthly premium, no deductible, and 90% coverage for everything. Quick responses and cheques. Forward 8 months later and premiums increase due to "rising vet costs in the area". Several notices of increases over the years meant that it was no longer financially doable for me to keep the same coverage I had, it had gone up to over $150/month (it started at $35). So yes, they "Doesn’t punish pet owners for filing claims by reducing coverage", but they'll find another way to punish you in the only other fine print that allows them to raise premiums.

Amazing! took away a mountain of stress

My claim was processed the next day and I had my check within a week. It eased my mind knowing I had such a great insurance company for my dogs. I was able to just take a picture of the receipt and the claim for and email it off from my phone. Super easy.

Trupanion cancellation nightmare

Trupanion is a nightmare to cancel. When you call to enroll anyone can help you with enrolling but to cancel you need a different type of "specialist" whom are always busy and unavailable. I called to cancel the day after enrolling because I changed my mind. And I was told a spcialist would call me back to help me cancel. No one ever called me. I continued to call them and on the 9th day finally got through to a specialist. Got an email confirmation for cancelling and to my surprise given less than 38 bucks less than want I paid to enroll. Yet their policy states that I'd get all of my money money if I canceled within 30 days and no claim. So they first made it difficult to cancel, NEVER returned my calls and then kept my money. WTF! Stay away. Worst scam ever. Glad I left as soon as I did.

First claim was paid

It took a little longer then I would have liked but They approved the claim. They said I'd was the first claim So they do a intensive background check. I'm a very happy customer. cooper is also very happy.

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
