A lifesaver for pet and owner
I think of my pet insurance coverage payments like a savings account for my pets' health needs. I normally don't need it, but when I do it saves my animal and I both a great deal of heartache and pain. When veterinary intervention is needed it saves me from having to struggle with coming up with the money for my pets' treatment.

I love the assurance of Trupanion for my pet!
My Diva girl was diagnosed with hepatic lymphoma. She was very ill so I called Trupanion and ask if they could fast track reviewing records to see if this claim is approved. Within 2 days they had an approval for my beautiful girl. I was going to get her chemo, but her cancer was a T cell and t isn't as responsive as B cell. I decided not to put her through I. Se was in great pain so I decided to euthanize her to give her peace. Trupanion paid her claims within 1 day of being submitted. This isn't the first time I have had Trupanion for my beloved dogs and I would not hesitate to use them again.

Trupanion is a scam
DO NOT GET THIS INSURANCE. I got their "insurance" and then my dog got sick and was throwing up and pooping diarhhea. Took the dog to the vet, and the vet suggested a bunch of treatments and tests, and Trupanion took 3 hours to decide they were NOT going to pay anything. Total scam DO NOT BUY. I ended up paying for some of the tests out of pocket, and they didn't reimburse me for that either.

Prompt no hassle payment
We never thought about pet insurance but after living through our first dog's mast cell cancer diagnosis and treatment we realized it was a must when we got our next dog. Our guy has had several mishaps-he ran into a car bumper of a stopped car (20 stitches); he was attacked by another dog which required more stitches and, as can happen with SharPei , he has developed several bouts of fever requiring overnight vet stays for IV fluid. Trupanion promptly paid each of these claims. Initially we had a high deductible but a couple of years ago we changed the policy to a 250 deductible and 90% coverage. The premium went up but it turned out to be well worth the price. A month ago our dog went into acute kidney failure. He spent 8 days in ICU at a wonderful hospital. He got great care and he is now on the mend. The stress of having our dog hospitalized, each day not knowing whether we'd need to make the decision to let him go was extremely stressful. Not worrying about the costs lifted a huge burden from us. We knew that based on prior experiences with Trupanion that they would honor our contract. We also called them to review our policy and the compassionate professional was very reassuring. Our dog's care continues and each bill is considered to be part of one event even though we have seen 3 different vets. Some meds needed to be purchased at our pharmacy- one med was 99. At this point the bills have totaled well over $10 K. Thank you to all the customer reps we've spoken to who have been kind, professional and compassionate and thank you to the claims department who have been quick to process the claims! Each claim was handled within a week! Fantastic company!

Coverage
One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice.

Payout Limits
Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.
Deductible
You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget.
Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.
Age Limits
All pets under 14 years old can enroll.
Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.
Waiting Period
Accidents: 5 days
Illnesses: 30 days
Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
Exclusions
Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like:
Examination fees
Wellness and preventive care
Elective, or cosmetic procedures
Sales tax, where applicable
