DO NOT use Trupanion!

DO NOT get your insurance through Trupanion!! We purchased insurance for our Bernese Mountain dog when he was a pup. He's now a healthy 7 year old but they have been jacking up our monthly rates (without notice). Last month, our rate increased from $83 to $112! This is price gouging and taking advantage of owners of aging pets. They know we can't cancel and find insurance for our elderly pets elsewhere as it will be too expensive. But this was the reason we started paying monthly premiums when he was a pup. Please don't fall for this scam!!

Awesome service!

Trupanion is amazing. My dog chase had run into in expected medical problems resulting in thousands of dollars in vet charges and Trupanion has paid for 90% of it! I don't know what I would without them. I would definitely recommend Trupanion to anyone so they can have the piece of mind knowing their loved ones will get the medical care they deserve!

Best decision

I enrolled my pet at a young age, my vet said to do it before he got any chronic conditions. My cat has nothing pre-existing, so glad I got the coverage.

Excellent service in a short amount of time.

My dog had a severe neurological problem that I needed him to be seen by a neurologist ASAP. Once the neurologist mentioned an MRI as an option, I immediately called Trupanion and got pre-approved for all diagnostic testing that needed to get done. As an LVT, I have seen many pet owners faced with the difficult decision of not being able to treat their pets due to financial constraints. I was estatic how fast Trupanion accepted my claim, and how fast I was pre-approved. It made making a very difficult decision a little easier. Thank you Trupanion!

Monthly Cost

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.

Coverage

One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice. To view a full list of inclusions and exclusions, check out our sample policy here.

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like: Examination fees Wellness and preventive care Elective, or cosmetic procedures Sales tax, where applicable Like all pet insurance providers, Trupanion does not cover pre-existing conditions.
