Hands down the best company out there. I wish human medical insurance was handled as fast and efficiently. Staff are always great and make you feel valued.

Depending on the plan Trupanion covers up to 90% of eligible expenses, has unlimited payouts-always, and can pay your vet bill, within seconds, at time of checkout, so all you pay is your portion (anything not covered by Trupanion). Best purchase I made for my pet!
We’ve had Trupanion since our six year old dog was three months old. She has had a myriad of experiences which required Trupanion’s help, some traumatic. Trupanion was there, covered exactly what they said, immediately, without blinking an eye! What a difference it made for us in decisions that needed to be made. It included amounts of thousands of dollars, and Trupanion was true to their word! I highly recommend this insurance to everyone who is looking for a reputable company. We are with this company for the life of our dog. So worth it! Thank you Trupanion!❤️

If they can't take us seriously, do you really think they will take your pets health seriously?!?!
My vet recommended this company. We were told we could get a 6 week free trial for our new puppy. This was on a Friday. We then got an email from Trupanion on the Monday saying we have 24 hours to activate the trial. I called immediately. To which we were told that the 24 hours applied to the time of the dogs vet visit, not the email. WHAT?!? Fine. Whatever. Let our vet know of what Trupanion had to say about that. Then a month later, we decided to call and ask a multitude of questions in regards to insuring our THREE ANIMALS. We had been taken by a pet insurance company in the past and wanted to full investigate that all possible "Loop hole" questions were formally answered. After about 5 minutes, it was clear I was annoying the customer service gentleman. And after about 10 minutes he blatantly laughed out loud regarding my questions about foreign body removal. I even informed him that we had already been taken by another company. That they were recommended by our vet. And that we wanted to ensure that all our questions were formally answered. Being so annoyed by his laughter and disregard to furry family members, I thanked him for his time and hung up. Two experiences. Two FAILS! Don't waste your time or money. They certainly don't take us seriously.

Efficient
Claims process was very efficient. Terms of coverage are clear. I submitted my claim on a Friday evening and received word on approval the following Tuesday-no questions asked.

Pet lovers, rejoice! Finally, a company that cares.
First. Whenever I have questions, i get to talk to a person on the phone. Who loves animals. Second. Never have I ever had a problem, with these guys. Happy to pay my premium to get the best service out there. Saved my butt (and my dog's butt) many times! Easy claim service, quick response time, and DIRECT BILLING (which could be just because I also love my vet... but you get the picture)! Yay!
Monthly Cost
Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.
Coverage
One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice.

Payout Limits
Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.
Deductible
You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget.
Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.
Age Limits
All pets under 14 years old can enroll.
Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.
Waiting Period
Accidents: 5 days
Illnesses: 30 days
Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
Exclusions
Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like:
Examination fees
Wellness and preventive care
Elective, or cosmetic procedures
Sales tax, where applicable
