Take more than they give! Careful

Be careful signing up with Trupanion! My boy was signed up at 12 weeks and the steady policy increases have been consistently increasing every year making my plan steadily more expensive yearly! My dog rarely sees a vet so that’s frustrating! They will tell you that they are sorry, but they have no options for you to make your plan cheaper either, except for increasing your “unlimited” lifetime deductible to a value that in a lifetime your pet wouldn’t reach anyway... smoke and mirrors! So this year my plan increased by $16/ month which is nearly $200 more per year with a deductible of $500.00 ... that’s a lot of money they take until my dog is old enough to actually get reimbursed... Do your homework... look elsewhere!

An Outstanding Leader In The Industry

Trupanion is an excellent pet insurance provider because of it's competitive and reasonable rates, stellar customer service, and timely claim settlement. Trupanion customer service is friendly, courteous, efficient, and professional. Amazing. Would highly recommend to anyone

Trupanion has been amazing. Their claims review is easy, very fast, and their customer service is fantastic. They cover exactly what they say they will - no loopholes. My dog just required a 4000$ surgery for a broken tooth which took place on two different days and they paid my 90% coverage directly to hospital, including a single deductible even though it was two separate surgeries. I would highly highly recommend to anyone with a pet they love who knows they would struggle to pay a large incidental vet bill. They are always lovely to interact with over the phone as well.

Always there

It doesn't matter the situation, Trupanion is alway there for our pet. Its easy for our vet to use and easy to understand how our portion was determined. We will never use another insurance company again.

Be careful

Signed our cat up for this scam the beginning of last month. Last week he started chewing the fur off his tail so I took him into the vet to find out why. After $1000 worth of tests we find out that none of it is covered by trupanion due to a pre existing condition. My cat is one year old and has been to one vet only. Not sure how pre existing conditions work but I’m pretty sure that’s not it. They said it was due a 30 day illness discovery period after signup We are well past that so I’m confused as to why it was denied. Pretty unhappy with this. Everyone please make sure you read your policy with a lawyer before you sign up for this.

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
