Shannon was helpful, in general I was a bit caught off guard to have had our one dog's premium go up so much this year.

Trupanion has helped us out tremendously with our boxer over the years.

Our 12 week old puppy was insured immediately upon picking her up at 9 weeks of age. Due to the "grace periods" we had coverage for "accidents" after 5 days from the date of payment, and "illnesses" would be covered after a month (30 days). One night after letting our dog out for a pee, she started to throw up violently. She continued to heave heavily almost to the point of being unable to breathe. Additionally she threw up blood multiple times. My wife and I rushed her to the emergency clinic at 2am, and treated her for what the vet suspected was a "foreign object" possibly lodged into her tummy or throat. The total cost of the overnight stay was $1500.00. Thankfully our puppy was ok, and responded well to the vet's coarse of action. The following day, while we were picking her up, we called Trupanion to discuss her coverage for the emergency. They instructed us to go through a pre-approval process and connected me to the per-approval team. The rep asked me a few basic questions and advised that they would review the claim and get back to me. After checking the dog out (10mins later) we called back Trupanion to advise them of the total costs. The Customer Service Rep had told us that the claim was already declined. To keep this short, we obtained the vet's notes and it clearly stated that he felt there was a blockage of some sort. The vet not removing any objects had to classify it as Gastroenteritis (very general term used loosely for gut issues including vomiting blood). Regardless, Trupanion had declined the emergency claim, stating that it was an "illness" and not a "accident". STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! THEY DECLINE YOUR CLAIMS!! To add insult to injury, their Claims Rep who contacted us to discuss this issue, said "ohh god" to a request from us, and also stated that "she had a job to do and had to go"..... Was she not doing her job when calling us? Stay away from this company. Full Stop.

You guys have gone above and beyond with our dog ... Martini!! She has had and still has a long haul but you guys have helped so much along the way! When you’re pet is sick it’s very stressful!!! You ease some of that burden! We recommend you to everyone we talk too!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

More than seven years ago I researched health insurance plans for our Standard Manchester Terrier even before we acquired her as a new puppy. As it quickly appeared to stand out above the other companies at that time, we promptly registered with Trupanion. As it turned out, we did require coverage for our dear Luna’s few, mostly chronic, health issues that emerged over the years. We have found that our expectations have been exceeded continuously by Trupanion. Trupanion has not only assisted us to ease our expenses significantly for veterinary care, but has done so in the most positive, kind and helpful manner, whether in emails or by phone. When a claim is submitted on line, which is simple to do, the response by Trupanion is amazing both in its being immediate and also in being completely explanatory about the details of coverage for the particular claim. We are kept informed clearly and fully about every step in the claim process. We have found that Trupanion’s calculations are always accurate, and that the claim payments are very prompt and without any wrangling. Support from Trupanion is a different experience in contrast to dealing with other (non-pet) insurance companies. Trupanion has even made suggestions to us about the way to be sure we get the full coverage for our premium, and more than once we have been surprised by Trupanion providing benefits that we missed seeing in the necessary “small print” in our contract! Having needed to submit many claims and to meet a few, serious, condition-specific deductible limits over the past seven years, we must rate Trupanion as 10 stars out of a possible 10, with no reservations at all. As two pensioners on a limited income and being on the verge of 80 years old, we firmly believe that the monthly premium we pay to Trupanion for insurance coverage for our loved pet is well worth every dollar. Several times over the past years I have praised Trupanion to our veterinary service and, in some detail, have highly recommended this company to acquaintances met in the local dog park and on daily walks. We are obviously very grateful to Trupanion for its always supportive words and ongoing financial assistance with keeping our loved companion energetically alive and in as good health as possible.
