My Irish Wolfhound was diagnosed with severe degenerative bone disease. He has bilateral elbow dysplasia, and subsequent osteoarthritis. Additionally, he is unable to take traditional medications and treatments for these diseases due to complications and severe life of threatening adverse reactions. He had his first symptoms 3 weeks after I signed him up for Trupanion, and there was no hesitation for coverage! Then by 6mos of age he had his first surgery and complications. And at 19mos he had his second surgery. He’s had multiple surgeries, multiple therapies (acupuncture, laser treatments), he’s had stem cell therapies, and recently had been fitted for orthotics. Trupanion is the reason he is still alive today! If not for them, his $80,000+ medical bills would NOT under any circumstances been possible to manage. I would have been forced to put him down, before his 2nd birthday. But, thanks to Trupanion and their remarkable coverage and assistance, my big guy celebrated his second birthday on Canada Day, has started walking a bit more, is in less pain, and now has an adequate quality of life. He is still improving by the week, and Trupanion makes that possible.
I have thoroughly looked at other insurance plans in the past, have spoken to other pet owners about their insurance coverages, and weighed costs vs coverage. There is NO other insurance company that comes close to their coverages for their prices, no other that cares as much, no other that genuinely helps it’s customers, no other that actually makes a difference like Trupanion does. Don’t waste your time and money with any other company!! And do NOT leave your most important four legged members without coverage any less than what Trupanion can offer you, it’s not worth the risk, nor is it worth the potential to have to make a decision because of finances. The representative answered ALL my questions and explained things in a way that just made sense. I felt like I truly understood how our pet's insurance works and why it is so important that we got it. I always tell my friends to get Trupanion and most definitely will get it for our next pet!

Coverage
One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice.

Payout Limits
Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.
Deductible
You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget.
Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.
Age Limits
All pets under 14 years old can enroll.
Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.
Waiting Period
Accidents: 5 days
Illnesses: 30 days
Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
Exclusions
Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like:
Examination fees
Wellness and preventive care
Elective, or cosmetic procedures
Sales tax, where applicable
