It’s a scam

Do not get this pet insurance, it’s a waste of money. What I didn’t realize and what they didn’t make clear to me is that you have to meet a deductible for EVERY new condition. I spent 900$ on my dog thinking they would start paying for something after that, NOPE. They denied my claims and then explained after the fact that no, you have to meet a deductible for every sick issue you claim. I canceled immediately after finding this out. Good thing I only paid for it for 5 months, I would have wasted a lot of money if I had found this years down the road.

Trupanion is absolutely great!

We have a kitten who developed a urinary tract infection and kidney levels out of normal. Trupanion looked after the claim and continue to do so. They are very efficient and very nice to talk to and deal with. I would recommend them when you become a pet owner or are a pet owner.

Worse investment ever

Never should have gotten insurance through this company. Worse money spent. Not helping when you need to call and speak with them. They just take your money and never pay you back after reaching deductibles. Wish I never went with this company to bad i did not find a better insurance company and do better research just listen to a family member that had only good things to say about them.

CLAIM DENIED!

Wow! What a scam. My dog was denied for first claim. He had diarrhea. He was lethargic, not eating or drinking x3 days; so sick. He could barely walk. Took him to the ER Dx with Gastroenteritis. A year prior I went to vet for diarrhea. He was diagnosed with gastroenteritis related to chicken food. Changed the food and healthy boy until a year later. $1200 in first claim with TRUPANION after hospitalization and medical work up. IV hydration, MEDA, labs and xrays. No definitive cause. Claim DENIED!!! Returned to regular vet and my dog luckily passed a large cloth rectally. According to TRUPANION gastroenteritis is a “disease”, chronic condition if you will. WOW!! As a nurse I know this is untrue. What a run around for a claim denial. Multiple emails. Leg work on my part! This company (unlike PETLINE) underwrites you after your claim!!! PETLINE lets you know within a week of starting a policy of any policy exemptions. What a disheartening experience. They DO NOT care about animals just money!!! I went to TRUPANION from PETLINE to save money on 2 dogs! Begging PETLINE to take us back! I have ZERO sense of security with this company! I will make it my mission to ensure anyone I know that who wants their animal to be cared about stays away! I also will be contacting the Better business Bureau and our local news company! They do not understand medical conditions and how they are not connected. So very disappointed!! Thanks for the vague response! I’ve wasted enough time trying to talk common sense into your crooked team. Thanks but no thanks!

Absolutely amazing help!

The gentlemen that help me determine the right plan for me was an absolutely amazing! He used examples that were super helpful and did not use terms that only an insurance company would understand.

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
