We spent more time with our sick dog!

Trupanion saved us time and money and worries as we were able to say yes to the Vet .Our dog had to get emergency ultrasound and CT Scan blood work and overnight stay. In the end there was nothing they can do as our dog was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer they let us take our beloved dog home and let him die at home. He died three weeks later. Trupanion is a lifesaver. It let us have more time with our dog and time to say goodbye. Our dog Sheldon is forever in our hearts he lived just shy of 8 days of his birthday he would have been 6 years old. He was a sweet gentlemen well loved fur baby. We will miss him so much our house is so empty and quiet.

TPLO surgery - 6 year old lab retriever

Our 6 year old lab required TPLO surgery and was scheduled for late March 2020 when Corvid 19 caused the indefinite cancellation of surgery and closure of most everything including veterinary services. As time passed, the dog became severely lame to where we worried the other leg might be compromised. I called Trupanion to explain our problem and to see if Trupanion would still cover medical costs if I was able to locate another surgeon willing to operate under emergency conditions. Staff assured me not to worry, just keep them updated - they're reachable 24 hrs./ 7 days a week. Our local vet was able to locate an emergency surgeon 2 hours away who expeditiously performed the procedure on both legs a few days later. Trupanion came to the rescue and covered all costs for both legs minus our deductible. At all times through the 6 years of coverage, staff have been pleasant, helpful and compassionate. Thank you to all.

Mailed in the claim form, got response a team member that they will be looking into the claim a few days later received a response the claim was processed, in a few days from that received the money in our account.

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
