Trupanion reliably comes through

I don't normally write reviews. But Trupanion has been so consistent and reliable about covering my cat that it deserves people to hear about it. I insured my cat as a kitten 7 years ago. It turned out that the lovely kitten I had was going to be subject to several chronic health problems. For the first time in my life I'm on a first name basis with my vet because I see her so often. My cat actually has three vets: his ordinary vet and two specialists. I've lost count of all the ultrasounds, xrays, etc that he's had. Trupanion has paid it's share of every single one. The one and only time they quibbled was when we accidentally claimed for the same procedure twice. And the customer service sorting that out was extraordinary. Submitting claims is straightforward. Approved claims deposit straight into my bank account in a matter of days consistently every time. I don't have a single complaint.

Wonderful

I have used Trupanion for all of the dogs I have had. They are a wonderful insurance company and I would recomend them to anyone. Wonderful service. Wonderful care. Wonderful interest. Thank you.

Not sure where I would be today without this coverage. This has been a lifesaver during TPLO. So easy. Money was there when I picked up my pup.

False advertising- they do not process claims for months

Their website boasts "fast claims". But it's been 4 months and I'm still waiting. I filed 2 claims in June, and it is now September with no resolution, other than emails saying "we're working on it". After MULTIPLE calls wasting my own time, no anwers. DO NOT FALL FOR THEM. They have nice agents, but awful service. They gave me excuses like "we're changing systems". That was 4 MONTHS AGO.

Very disappointed. My monthly fee is going up from 55$ to 90$!!

Very disappointed. I'm in my first year. I took out the insurance when my pet was a baby and I trusted the advertising that they wouldn't make absurd increases. But I've just received an email informing me that my monthly fee is going up from 55$ to 90$. This is complete nonsense, a lack of sense. It's almost double the amount for a pet that's a year and a bit old. Imagine when it's 8, 9 years old. Prepare your pockets, friends. When I called customer service, they told me that they had studied my pet's breed and had to change the price. If they hadn't done this before, do I have to pay? I don't even know if an increase of this level is legally possible, but I'm going to do some research to make sure they're not infringing on my rights as a consumer.

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
