We actually just signed up with Trupanion so no experience, yet but they game highly recommended by a close friend & vet of ours! I’ve researched many plans & even though this one was a little bit more monthly the benefits & coverage was by far the best!
I've been with Trupanion almost 11 years now, for my boxer Kiele. While I originally got this plan just to be on the safe side, it has turned out to be a literal life saver for my girl and I. Unfortunately, as Kiele has aged, we've run into some very serious medical conditions. Trupanion has been there every step of the way, making this incredibly difficult time, so much easier. The claims process has been so quick, the customer service is always amazing, and the coverage has been beyond reproach. Yes, at $190/monthly with a $300 deductible, it seems expensive. But after 11 years, and a $43,000.00 payout so far for her lifetime, without Trupanio, I'd be bankrupt, or no longer have my sweet girl. I got my first Trupanion policy back in January when I picked up my Dog Paisley! Recently we went to the vet for her 16 week check up. She being a Labrador retriever and having"massive floppy ears" fell victim to a very mild ear infection. This resulted in me putting in our first claim with Trupanion for the mediations and ear cleaning solution. The process was ridiculously easy (seriously, I did NOTHING) the vet clinic submitted the claim directly to Trupanion and then handed me a receipt (easy peasy).
But this isn't where it ends. Less than 24 hours later a Trupanion representative (Tiffany T) called me and was asking how Paisley was doing, how she was feeling and how she was reacting to the medication. Though this is such a small gesture, this truly meant the world to both Paisley and I. She furthered explained more of the "policy stuff" but made sure that I understood that the deductible is a one time payment for chronic conditions.
The fact that Trupanion has their representatives calling their policy holders to ensure that their pets are feeling and doing ok honestly shows that they value their members.
We will be a FOREVER customer and any future animals that we bring into our family will be a Trupanion member too!

One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice.

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.
Deductible
You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget.
Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.
Age Limits
All pets under 14 years old can enroll.
Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.
Waiting Period
Accidents: 5 days
Illnesses: 30 days
Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
Exclusions
Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like:
Examination fees
Wellness and preventive care
Elective, or cosmetic procedures
Sales tax, where applicable
