Trupanion is an absolute life saver

Trupanion is an absolute life saver! Our 13 month old Great Dane presented with the a high fever and coughing, after 3 days and over $20,000 the MRI and expertise of a neurologist discovered a very enlarged lymph node in his neck. The next four days of treatment and follow-up care totaled in excess of $40,000. Trupanion was there every step of the way with acceptance and payment directly to the hospital in less than one minute every time! Our beautiful big boy is with us today because the Critical Care Team was not hamstrung by financial constraints, they were able to perform at their best to save his life and Trupanion was there every step of the way...thank you! Their customer service team is exceptional. Their people are empowered, compassionate, and extremely competent, what a team and what a company culture! As responsible pet owners we have no problem spending a little more for the best food, the fun toys, the best training, etc. What could be more important than their well-being? Our two daughters will soon be pet owners. We have made an agreement that part of responsible pet ownership includes buying Trupanion. If you can’t afford insurance you’re not ready to own a pet. Trupanion was always very quick in…

Trupanion was always very quick in responding to any of our submissions (especially when we started direct billing from the Vet. clinic direct), and, was also very quick in responding to any requests, concerns, or problems we had which needed to be answered or solved by them. The phone conversations were always pleasant and courteous.

Really great to deal with and fast

Really great to deal with and fast. The only thing I’m not happy with is that the monthly fees keep going up every year.. started at 50$ a month now at over 100$!!! I know of other pet insurance companies that do not change their monthly fees and wish that Trupanion would not change as well as it’s getting a bit ridiculous!

Monthly Cost

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.

Coverage

One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice. To view a full list of inclusions and exclusions, check out our sample policy here.

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like: Examination fees Wellness and preventive care Elective, or cosmetic procedures Sales tax, where applicable Like all pet insurance providers, Trupanion does not cover pre-existing conditions.
