Lovely & caring customer service

Lovely & caring customer service, I love Trupanion's commitment to making caring for sweet pup's more accessible. As a pet parent it is so important to me to invest in their wellness and having a company that is open to understanding how important preventative care is really important. I hope Trupanion expands on their current plans to include some preventative care expenses that can be just as high as emergency services. Overall great job :) Happy to try them out while my pup is learning how to put his best paws forwards :)

Trupanion is a must have!

Trupanion is well worth it! I absolutely highly recommend Trupanion. It is simple to sign up for, coverage is explained in easy to understand terms, and they truly are there for you 24/7. My cat Rick O'Shea needed emergency medical treatment recently and Trupanion made everything simple at an extremely stressful time. I didn't have my policy number with me, but all hat the vet clinic needed was the email address the policy was registered under to submit a claim. Pre-approval was quick and the vet clinic was paid directly for services. No fuss, no muss. Thank you Trupanion for being there for Rick O'Shea and our family in his time of need. If you don't already have Trupanion I recommend you get it.

Doesn't pay much and raise monthly fees

My cat has digestive issues. Ended up being parasites from the breeder. Trupanion didn't pay much and after about 2-3 months, they almost double the monthly fees. Also, before enrolling, I asked their representative what was not covered because their premium was much lower than any other insurances. I suspected there was something not covered. The representative told me EVERYTHING IS COVERED except previous health issues. Well, turns out hyperactivity is not covered. They consider that a behavioral issues and that is not covered. So, it's NOT EVERYTHING THAT IS COVERED! I do not recommend this pet insurance. I won't use them for my next pets. Now, it's too late. If I get another insurance company, previous health issues are not covered. I'm stucked with Trupanion. Will see how long I will keep it at this price.

Trupanion is just a caring, upstanding company who puts animals first. Our dog Max has cancer and we really couldn't of done it without having an insurance company like Trupanion whose dedication hard work is most certainly what our Max and ourselves needs.

Trupanion helped save my dogs life!

I only had pet insurance for under a year (paying about $50 a month) when my sweet pup suddenly got extremely Ill and had to be hospitalized for 2 weeks. There is no way I would have been able to afford all of this life-saving medical care if I didn't have pet insurance. The first hospital she was at did direct billing to Trupanion and they were very quick to respond! She unfortunately had to be brought to a higher level specialty hospital with ICU and they didn't do direct billing there, but submitting my claims online was easy. The amazing doctors and team that cared for my dog saved her life, but without Trupanion she wouldn't have had a chance! I work at a veterinary hospital and always urge clients to get pet insurance! Unless you have $15,000+ to flush down the toilet in the case of an unforeseen emergency, you need to have pet insurance. I never thought this would happen to me - my dog is under 2 years old and was perfectly healthy. Be prepared for the unexpected if you love your fur baby like I do! Trupanion has been reliable and though they may be on the higher end cost-wise, I didn't want to take any risks with a less trustworthy company. As a veterinary worker I see it almost every day where loving owners can't afford necessary life-saving medical treatment and it's heartbreaking. It should become the norm for everybody to get pet insurance when they get a new pet to avoid these horrible scenarios!

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
