TruPanion has been great!
TruPanion has been great! They showed genuine concern about our dog Bella and were very prompt in providing information on the coverage and the pay-out (within one week). When we bought the insurance our pups were only 2 years old and we figured spreading the cost of vet bills over the period of a year would be better, then taking a big hit financially if something happened. Our dogs had gotten into a little scrape now and then (as puppies do…) and we had already gone through a bout of major vet bills due to digestive tract issues for one of them. Plus with mini-dachshunds you have to worry about hereditary back and hip injuries, which TruPanion covers.
Little did we know we would need the insurance so quickly (at age 4). Our stronger dog appeared to have hurt her back some how late one afternoon. We did not witness what happened and she acted normal until later that night when she was not able to push off to jump up. The next morning she was still able to walk, although a little stiff. After a vet visit and medicine that morning from the vet, she was confined to her crate for 2-4 weeks to let any kind of inflammation settle down. But unfortunately by that evening it had deteriorated. She was in a lot of pain and completely unable to walk. She actually appeared paralyzed from the waist down. The next morning she met with a neurologist. With the help of an MRI it was clear she had 2 herniated discs in the middle of her back, which were pushing on her spinal cord. That even

TRUPANION HELPED ME SAVE MY DOG'S LIFE
Trupanion is the BEST pet insurance I have ever worked with. My dog Rio got a hold of a bottle with Buclafen in it and ate all the pills in there. The overdose was enough for kill a large dog and my 7 pound Chihuahua was rushed to the hospital in cared for for 20 days. The medical bills included many nights in ICU, dialyses, and all the treatment you can possibly think of for overdose and renal failure. But TRUPANION help our hand the whole way through and together we saved Rio's life! My dog would have been dead by now if I had not chosen Trupanion as my pet insurance!
Monthly Cost
Your monthly premium is determined by multiple factors including your pet’s species, gender, breed, age, zip code, and the deductible amount you choose if your policy allows.
Coverage
Depending on your plan, the Trupanion policy pays up to 100% of your vet bill for all eligible expenses. There are unlimited payout limits, always and Trupanion will never increase or cancel your coverage because of claims you submit. Coverage includes new accidents and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions, diagnostic tests, hospital stays, and much more. Trupanion prides itself on paying out more on the dollar than any other provider and has paid out nearly $2 billion in claims to date.
Payout Limits
The Trupanion policy* has no payout limits, so whether your pet needs one quick visit or a lifetime of care, your coverage won’t quit.
That can mean a big difference if your pet develops a chronic condition requiring extended care like allergies, diabetes, or even cancer.
Deductible
If your Trupanion policy has a deductible, you can customize it to fit your budget. You can choose from $50 to $1,000 in increments of $5, or choose to have no deductible at all. Trupanion deductibles are per-condition and good for the life of your pet. That means no annual resets-once a deductible is met, you never have to pay the deductible for that condition again.
Age Limits
All new pets can enroll from birth until their 14th birthday. Once your pet is enrolled, they can be enrolled for life

Waiting periods vary by state. Please see your states policy for full coverage details.
However, other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
Exclusions
Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like:
Examination fees
Wellness and preventive care
Elective, or cosmetic procedures
Sales tax, where applicable
Like many other pet insurance providers, Trupanion does not cover pre-existing conditions. Whichever insurer you choose, it pays to enroll early!
