Pets Best | Pet Insurance Review

Pets Best keeps it straightforward and so simple! We took our dog to the vet, took a picture of the receipt, logged into Pets Best, made a claim by uploading the pic, and the money was in our account in a couple of weeks. We appreciate Pets Best and how easy they make it for us and our dog. She keeps us on our toes so her insurance doesn't!

As always they take forever to process claims. This insurance isn't good value for money as their customer service is non existent and they take forever to do anything.

Pets Best used to be a great insurer. They were so quick at processing claims and the customer service was exceptional - you could always get an answer within the same day, often the same hour (via phone, email, or chat). However, last year things started to get bad. Claims are still very easy to submit! But, my rates jump considerably every year, and claims processing now take over a month. At first, they blamed it on COVID-19, but now that is just how long it takes. I have had claims denied and they will not respond to my attempts to understand why. In fact, the only way to get ahold of them is to call an 877 number and sit on hold for hours, or to submit a response to their chat operator (which never operates) and to never receive a response. I would cancel my policy today but I am still waiting for them to process a claim I submitted weeks ago which I do not want to jeopardize. I would not recommend Pets Best to any pet owner. You will pay much too much for far too little.

Our experience with Pet's Best has been great so far. We had a labrador retriever for 13 years who had many health challenges and became quite expensive. We swore if we ever got another dog, we would get pet insurance from day one. So, this past January, when we got a puppy (right before COVID hit) we researched for pet insurance and I found Pet's Best. Our vet had provided us with a few other companies, but their plans didn't have as good as coverage. We decided to sign up for the BestBenefit plan and it was the best decision we could have made. When our pup was just four months old, we learned that developed elbow dysplasia, which is a genetic disorder similar to arthritis in humans. She had to undergo double elbow surgery, which cost us over $3500. We had only been with Pets Best for several months, and even though our plan covered this genetic disorder, I thought for sure they would find a way and not pay us the 90%. They originally denied the claim, and when I called them to discuss it, I learned that they simply needed additional documentation, which I promptly sent. Two weeks later, I received the reimbursement check for the full 90%. Although calling and talking to someone can take upwards of 20-30 minutes, it was worth the wait for me to speak to a representative to know what was going on. Like many insurance companies, you need to stay on top of your claims, and be sure to reach out if you have concerns. When I did speak with the woman at Pets Best, she was very helpful and gave me the appropriate information to see my claim was reimbursed. Although this is our first experience using pet insurance, we are very happy to have chosen Pets Best and I would recommend them to anyone who is contemplating insuring their fur babies.

Our two-year old shelter rescue developed a complex eye infection. Pets Best was with us all the way. Kitty is clear of infection after several months of treatment. This support saved her eyesight. We are so grateful and so impressed.
