If I could give two separate ratings for service & reimbursement time

I gave Pets Best a 4 star because with my two dogs and the number of serious surgeries and issues theyve had over the years, Pets Best has definitely helped. For me, everything I expected to be covered was and what was not I knew because it was in the contract given to me. The processing of claims on the other hand, it used to be extremely fast, within 3-5 days, then somewhere in the fall of 2019 it went to 25 days, then 30 days. Now as Jan 2020, I have three claims pending, two submitted today with a 30-40 day waiting period, and one back on dec 18 that hasnt processed yet. Not sure if there is a manpower shortage but it definitely is putting doubt in my mind and I'm starting to consider whether i should try another company. I really do hope they rectify this issue.

Fair but Finicky

Have been using Pets Best for about 9 years and have looked at other insurances. For the price Pets Best is reasonable and their policies are easy to understand. Warning: As the animal ages, the price will increase (but so will the likelihood of your pet needing expensive procedures and medication). Before entering a claim, be sure that all of information on the bill is correct; because the claim will be denied for any discrepancies. If it is denied, call customer service and find out why specifically the claim was denied and be sure that you it fix the discrepancy promptly. They are a little slow reviewing and paying out claims but I don't know if that would be any different with another insurance company.

Disattified

End up paying for surgery and medicine,a long with "pet insurance "only to take months to find out you get NOTHING in return,senseless to be forking out money for insurance!!

Great experience

Our year old dog broke her front leg. Her repair required surgery to insert a plate and screws and multiple sets of x-rays. A very expensive proposition in Alaska. Claims process was very easy. There was a bit of a delay in the response, but they kept us informed of the progress. Overall we were very pleased with their service.

Monthly Cost

$6 and up, depending on your chosen plan.

Coverage

Accident and Illness plans with optional reimbursement levels of 70%, 80%, or 90% after the deductible. Flat Rate Accident coverage for $9/month for dogs and $6/month for cats. (Available in most states). Two optional Wellness plans to cover routine care. 24/7 Pet Helpline, powered by whiskerDocs is included on all policies. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill. Reimbursements are sent directly to CareCredit credit card when chosen as your default reimbursement method. Choose to have your eligible claim payment reimbursed directly back to your CareCredit card.

Payout Limits

$5000 -Unlimited annual limit, depending on your chosen plan. Unlimited lifetime limits.

Deductible

$50 – $1,000 annually.

Age Limits

Pet must be at least 7 weeks old to enroll. Pets Best does not restrict coverage or availability for older pets.

Waiting Period

A waiting period refers to the amount of time after enrolling before your pet is eligible for coverage. Waiting periods vary by the type of coverage and start on the effective date of your policy. Once met, waiting periods are waived for continuous, uninterrupted policy renewals. Pets Best offers some of the shortest waiting periods in the industry following the policy effective date. Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Elective and preventive procedures are not covered.
