Best thing I could’ve done

** update my claim refunds were deposited back into my account and helped tremendously paying down a HUGEneuro bill. So far so good!! Randomly obtaining pet insurance a few months before my dog started having (elusive and expensive) neuro issues, was The best thing I’ve done! In the beginning submitting claims seemed time consuming, and confusing because of the amount of Visits and emergency vets. The first time I submitted , all were closed out. I did it again and made sure to include the dr. Records and making sure all of the vet offices were saved for submissions, helped. I didn’t have high coverage and a $1000 deductible, but get anything back after what we spent , in a short couple of months , was a godsend. I haven’t gotten the payment back , yet and read someone had to pay 2k + their premium after claims. I plan to follow up and see what that is. It’s just like any other insurance- it’s awesome when you have something as crazy as this happen to help pay expenses.

Fed up

I spent the last week trying to get through to them to discuss my policy and claim. Time spent on the phone on hold not speaking to a live human over that last week equals 4 hours 20 minutes!!!! Today alone was 2 hours 15 minutes and two calls since they cut off the first call! They never called my vet to verify their fax number and when they did not receive the documentation instead of calling they just denied my claim! I have pet insurance on my other two dogs with a different company and I have NEVER had any problems like this with that company! Should have just moved them all to the other insurance company!

Easy and consistent, although slow

They may be slow to pay, but they have always paid what is covered by my plan without any back and forth. Super easy process.

Not Hapy

The claim process was not the problem the decision to deny my claim was. We received our puppy on July 18, 2020. She was born on April 30, 2020. The person we got her from had her vaccinations up to that point administered by her vet. The vet also did a blood test and recommended we have an acid bile test when we got her home. At no time was a diagnosis made. There still has not been a diagnosis. We have a new puppy and have insurance to make sure any of her needs are taken care of. It is very disappointing that our claim was denied. I don’t believe it was a fair decision. We will be cancelling our policy since it was absolutely useless.

Monthly Cost

$6 and up, depending on your chosen plan.

Coverage

Accident and Illness plans with optional reimbursement levels of 70%, 80%, or 90% after the deductible. Flat Rate Accident coverage for $9/month for dogs and $6/month for cats. (Available in most states). Two optional Wellness plans to cover routine care. 24/7 Pet Helpline, powered by whiskerDocs is included on all policies. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill. Reimbursements are sent directly to CareCredit credit card when chosen as your default reimbursement method. Choose to have your eligible claim payment reimbursed directly back to your CareCredit card.

Payout Limits

$5000 -Unlimited annual limit, depending on your chosen plan. Unlimited lifetime limits.

Deductible

$50 – $1,000 annually.

Age Limits

Pet must be at least 7 weeks old to enroll. Pets Best does not restrict coverage or availability for older pets.

Waiting Period

A waiting period refers to the amount of time after enrolling before your pet is eligible for coverage. Waiting periods vary by the type of coverage and start on the effective date of your policy. Once met, waiting periods are waived for continuous, uninterrupted policy renewals. Pets Best offers some of the shortest waiting periods in the industry following the policy effective date. Get a quote for specific information on waiting periods in your state.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Elective and preventive procedures are not covered.
