with nearly $200 in vet bills for an…

with nearly $200 in vet bills for an infection and medications, we received less than $17 in re-imbursement. Our dog has NEVER been sick, routinely gets his shots and is only 2 yrs old. According to "Pets Best" the reason for this denial of some of the claim is that we exceeded our policy amount allowable. We are paying Pets best $500 + a year to cover 1 dog. We would be better off putting the money into a money market fund in our dogs name. we will be leaving Pets Best.

We recently signed up to have two of our pups insured with Pets Best and I have to say it was a great decision. A newly adopted pup had some digestive problems plus we needed a wellness check and the ease with which we were able to submit our claims was great. We have already been reimbursed directly into our bank account for the first vet visit.

while the insurance seems promising

while the insurance seems promising, they are very slow to process claims and it appears more difficult than anticipated to get things covered and guidance of procedure for claims and how their program works is lacking. As Someone who tries to be on top of things, this has proven a challenge, but the help staff has been kind. so far does not feel like it has been worth the efforts but maybe time will prove that wrong.

This company is a scam!

At first, I thought this company was great. I started a policy after paying out of pocket for a major surgery. I paid $50-65 a month for 5+ years before I had to actually submit a claim. My dog had ripped out his teeth and the claim for the initial vet visit went through just fine because they knew I hadn't met my deductible. When I filed a claim for the surgery to fix his jaw and teeth, they took 3 MONTHS to process it and then came up with an excuse that they can't cover it because his teeth hadn't been professionally cleaned. NOBODY from customer service was willing to help me. I ended up paying $2500 out of pocket for a surgery that should have been covered by my 90% policy and the trauma he endured. I tried to resubmit the claim explaining that they had categorized it incorrectly and they deleted the claim without ever contacting me. I could not despise this company more. They got thousands of dollars out of me over the years but refused to help me when I actually needed them.

Monthly Cost

$6 and up, depending on your chosen plan.

Coverage

Accident and Illness plans with optional reimbursement levels of 70%, 80%, or 90% after the deductible. Flat Rate Accident coverage for $9/month for dogs and $6/month for cats. (Available in most states). Two optional Wellness plans to cover routine care. 24/7 Pet Helpline, powered by whiskerDocs is included on all policies. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill. Reimbursements are sent directly to CareCredit credit card when chosen as your default reimbursement method. Choose to have your eligible claim payment reimbursed directly back to your CareCredit card.

Payout Limits

$5000 -Unlimited annual limit, depending on your chosen plan. Unlimited lifetime limits.

Deductible

$50 – $1,000 annually.

Age Limits

Pet must be at least 7 weeks old to enroll. Pets Best does not restrict coverage or availability for older pets.

Waiting Period

A waiting period refers to the amount of time after enrolling before your pet is eligible for coverage. Waiting periods vary by the type of coverage and start on the effective date of your policy. Once met, waiting periods are waived for continuous, uninterrupted policy renewals. Pets Best offers some of the shortest waiting periods in the industry following the policy effective date. Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Elective and preventive procedures are not covered.
