Lacking important information
There was no indication before binding that there was a two week underwriting review before an effective date is given. No other pet insurance carrier does that and it seems over the top for this line of business.

I made a big mistake going with…
I made a big mistake going with Nationwide for pet insurance for my puppy. Sure, signing up is a breeze, and they accept your monthly premium with no problem but claims are NOT paid out quickly! I submitted my first claim for $388 and I was informed that processing time takes 30 days. Further, they wanted medical records for my puppy previous to the claim date, which I sent in. Now they’re asking for more medical records to which I already sent because my puppy has only been to two clinics. I can’t believe I’m waiting 30 days now for a $388 claim. Imagine if it was more?! Plus, my account information is not even updated. The claim status is showing “closed.” I asked why and I was informed it reflects “closed “ when more information is needed. I don’t believe some of the other reviews- Nationwide is clearly not the best!

Exclusions
Pre-existing conditions are not covered on any plans (if a condition is curable, it may be eligible for review if pet remains treatment-free for at least six months).
Whole Pet with Wellness covers nearly all veterinary expenses. Notable exclusions include boarding and grooming.
