Not the best return you would hope
My two cardigan corgis got poisoned and developed pancreatitis, intractable nausea, vomiting and bloody diarrhea. They wanted to put them down initially and after 24hr reevaluation. They stayed in ICU care about 6 days with multiple iv fluids, medicines and eventually they pulled through. The final bill was between 10-11 thousand dollars for both dogs.
We got about 3500 dollars back. For poisoning which is the main reason for which they went, they only covered 100 dollars out of 5000. That was appalling and ridiculous. We've been with this insurance since they were born (initially VPI pet insurance and now Nationwide), paying high premium for both and we've usually just take them twice a year to the vet for check ups, vaccines and dental hygiene. We pay out of pocket for all heart meds and flea control. I don't know why they cover so little for something so frequently encountered in the pet population. I personally wouldn't recommend the insurance. if we save all the money payed to the insurance company, we would have been able to pay the whole disease process.
