Nationwide | Pet Insurance Review

We have two Basset Hounds with policies. They are 6-year olds and are brother and sister. They have been insured with Nationwide for about five years since Nationwide (then VPI) became available to me as an employee benefit option. I am since retired but have maintained the coverage. The coverage is great, the service is quick, and my wife and I are very happy with Nationwide.

I submitted a claim for both the Wellness Plan and Major Medical. As always, the claims were easy to file and the payment was in my bank within a couple of weeks. One was for a vet visit related to an acute issue, the other claim was for monthly heartworm pills we give our puppy. The forms are easy to fill out and it is clear what documentation is needed. The policy handbook spells out clearly what will be covered, what won't be covered and what the payment will be. The website is easy to use as well. I was able to check on the status of the claim. Pet insurance is always a gamble but both of my dogs have had major surgery and most all of the costs have been covered. I find that Nationwide has been easy to work with.

Easy to file a claim and prompt responses

We got Bailey as a young pup and didn't realize the trouble they can get into. After researching many options, I chose Nationwide Pet Insurance as it included preventative. I didn't realize I would need the insurance for the young pup for sick visits early on. He is a fun-loving, curious dog I don't know how I could live without! Nationwide Pet Insurance has been there every step of the way, from healthy to sick exams, and everywhere in the middle. They are the insurance I trust and would recommend to anyone.
