Thank you!

My dog was attacked my another dog and we were devastated! We took him to urgent care and had this huge unexpected bill for over one thousand dollars! I am so thankful we have Nationwide pet insurance for him because it covered everything minus the deductible. He is doing great now and I could not be more grateful for this pet insurance. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Prompt response

I have recently gotten my dog on pet insurance and it was a good thing we did. He has been having issues with his eye and the costs have added up already. Although i pay a high monthly fee for this coverage, it has really paid off to have my dog fully covered. I have received my reimbursements very quickly and with no problems. I sure hope my relationship with this insurance coverage stays this easy. :-)

Impressed but recently disappointed

It's a great coverage program and I appreciate the expense reimbursements. I was recently disappointed, however, when a claim was rejected due to a lapse in coverage. I was never made aware there was an issue and Nationwide automatically deducts from my account monthly for both dogs. Bailey's relapsed and not Hank's? This just happened recently and now I have to call you guys and sort all this out. Not looking forward to it.

Benefit coverage is very unclear and not worth it

I signed up for insurance and it was a relatively easy process to do so. Although I thought I generally understood what was covered, I realized very quickly how useless the plan is. My dog has a skin condition that required medicated shampoo and conditioner, so I took him to the vet and had him get a shot while we were there and purchased heartworm prevention. I submitted the claim and they wrote it all off as a routine visit. The medicated shampoo and conditioner did not even count towards the $250 deductible. I double checked the policy declarations and it is extremely vague what is covered. It mostly includes a long list of what is not covered. In my opinion, this a huge waste of money for a policy that is extremely vague, and offers very little.

Reimbursement too long

All in all pretty good coverage. Claim review takes too long.

Monthly Cost

Policies start at approximately $12 per month.

Coverage

Nationwide offers a variety of plans offering varying levels of coverage. The company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness, offers 90% reimbursement for accident, injury, illness and wellness care, inclusive of exam fees. All Nationwide members have complimentary 24/7 access to vethelpline.

Payout Limits

Depending on the plan selected, there may be annual benefit limits or per incident benefit allowances. There is no annual limit for the company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness.

Deductible

Annual deductibles range from $0 to $1,000. Most popular annual deductible for Whole Pet with Wellness is $250.

Age Limits

No age restriction to enroll in company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness. Other plans may have age restrictions.

Waiting Period

14-day waiting period after application approved and payment of premium is received.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered on any plans (if a condition is curable, it may be eligible for review if pet remains treatment-free for at least six months). Whole Pet with Wellness covers nearly all veterinary expenses. Notable exclusions include boarding and grooming.
