Efficient Claims Management

Great insurance and payment is very timely. The only issue is trying to find the online claims payment where the claim is submitted online. The only link on the home page when you log-in is "email your claims" which then requires you to download a claim form and send an email. There needs to be a link for actually doing all the submission on line as well and it is hard to find and it is only when you link to the FAQs (which makes no sense). I would think it would be easy just to put a link to submit a claim right below "policy details and forms" on the policy holder's home page. Then it would open the link that is found on the FAQs and would be for that specific animal. :)

Thank you for your support. Appreciate the insurance being in place and consistent in approach.

While the reimbursement took time, once approved we were pleased with the outcome. My only criticism is the lack of updates and communications as we waited for claim approval - no updates as to the receipt of records when requested, and no formal communication when claim was approved. I had to keep checking the status from the website in order to see the new claim approval status. Otherwise, claim submissions and website information, etc. is great!

Lola give it 10 Paws

We have a 2 1/2 yr old that has had an upset belly since we rescued her at 9 months. Lots of tests and scans yet Nationwide hasn't denied a single claim. Thank you for helping us find the cause of our sweet girl's issues.

You're crazy if you don't have Pet Insurance for your pet.

I am so thankful that I purchased Nationwide Pet Insurance 3 years ago. It is worth every penny of the monthly premium. Without the insurance I don't know if I could have afforded the tests and surgery to remove a Cancerous tumor. I would tell anyone if you really love your pet and treat him as a member of your family, you would be crazy not to have them covered with Nationwide Pet Insurance. It also helps if all your other insurance is with Nationwide because you qualify for a 5% discount on the Pet Insurance.

Monthly Cost

Policies start at approximately $12 per month.

Coverage

Nationwide offers a variety of plans offering varying levels of coverage. The company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness, offers 90% reimbursement for accident, injury, illness and wellness care, inclusive of exam fees. All Nationwide members have complimentary 24/7 access to vethelpline.

Payout Limits

Depending on the plan selected, there may be annual benefit limits or per incident benefit allowances. There is no annual limit for the company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness.

Deductible

Annual deductibles range from $0 to $1,000. Most popular annual deductible for Whole Pet with Wellness is $250.

Age Limits

No age restriction to enroll in company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness. Other plans may have age restrictions.

Waiting Period

14-day waiting period after application approved and payment of premium is received.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered on any plans (if a condition is curable, it may be eligible for review if pet remains treatment-free for at least six months). Whole Pet with Wellness covers nearly all veterinary expenses. Notable exclusions include boarding and grooming.
Since 1982, Nationwide has helped pet owners protect what matters most. As the largest provider of pet health insurance in the U.S., Nationwide currently insures over 600,000 dogs, cats, birds and exotic pets for medical conditions related to illnesses, injuries accidents and wellness care. In 2015, it introduced Whole Pet with Wellness, the only U.S. pet health insurance plan offering complete coverage for injuries, accidents, illnesses and wellness care. Policies range from nose-to-tail coverage to routine pet care plans that offer reimbursement for wellness exams and preventive treatments.
