Fast efficient claim processing

Max fell very sick suddenly and we had to undergo surgery. He has recovered but needs to be monitored and stay on a special diet. The insurance helped ease the burden. Else given our limited means we would have had to made a very different choice.

Best Medical Insurance in Our Household

Nationwide far surpasses our human medical insurance for both services and claim processing. Service goes beyond their excellent and well-informed telephone representatives. The vethelpline is not only informational but their follow-up email summation of a conversation is perfect for sharing with a local vet if needed. When submitting a claim online or by fax and using their automated deposit process claim payments are usually deposited into my bank account within a week. (The most current claim was a record 3-1/2 DAYS!)

There should be an online portal on the site to submit claims and upload Dr reports and invoices

Overall I really like Nationwide. I'm sorry they restrict pre existing conditions because my other dog has PetPlan which was the only thing available to her when she was a baby 8 years ago. I'd move her over to Nationwide in a minute, but she has allergies and high blood pressure. Petplan doesn't cover wellness and that's what I don't like about it. I keep my pets healthy with regular vet visits so I won't have a major incident which is the only thing Petplan is good for.

Terrific company, quick to respond and easy to navigate

I have used Nationwide Pet Insurance for many years and am so glad my work place offered it. I have a rescue dog who has been a handful the past 4 years I've had him. Each time I used the vet I sent via fax my bill and filled out the nationwide paper and within 24 hours got a email response that they received it and they were processing it. Within a week I got a response and a check in the mail. Wonderful company, can not thank them enough for their speedy response.

Very easy to submit claims and receive reimbursement timely.

Very efficient and to let on reimbursements. It’s been a very goo service for my pet, however, my policy went up 55% and I feel it was due to my recent claim. I have the same coverage but opted for the $250. Deductible instead of what I had been paying ($100 deductible) and it’s still a lot more monthly. I feel it’s not fair and my let doesn’t have a major illness and her medication is very inexpensive. It was the procedures that were expensive.

Monthly Cost

Policies start at approximately $12 per month.

Coverage

Nationwide offers a variety of plans offering varying levels of coverage. The company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness, offers 90% reimbursement for accident, injury, illness and wellness care, inclusive of exam fees. All Nationwide members have complimentary 24/7 access to vethelpline.

Payout Limits

Depending on the plan selected, there may be annual benefit limits or per incident benefit allowances. There is no annual limit for the company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness.

Deductible

Annual deductibles range from $0 to $1,000. Most popular annual deductible for Whole Pet with Wellness is $250.

Age Limits

No age restriction to enroll in company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness. Other plans may have age restrictions.

Waiting Period

14-day waiting period after application approved and payment of premium is received.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered on any plans (if a condition is curable, it may be eligible for review if pet remains treatment-free for at least six months). Whole Pet with Wellness covers nearly all veterinary expenses. Notable exclusions include boarding and grooming.
