Feedback on Nationwide Pet Insurance

I found out that my premium for Biscuit went up over 70% this year and I am paying over $225 a month for his care. This is an incredible mark up in price and it puts as you of course know in a bad spot. So, do I cancel and just pay out of pocket thousands of dollars as he is a senior or do I pay the premium every month even though nothing is wrong with him now. I can't switch to another insurer because he has pre-existing conditions. So you got me! Such a sad story. I can tell you this much, if he so much as coughs, I am taking him to the vet to maximize my premium. And it is a good thing that I go to one of the best and most expensive Vet practices in the city. So, I will make the most of this plan. But I will never join Nationwide pet insurance in the future. You should not increase premiums based on location and on age.

Feel safer with Nationwide

I am a true believer in insurance (including the wellness option) for my pets. It gives me great comfort that we are prepared for everything, especially at the puppy phase. Nationwide makes it easy.

Nationwide has been fantastic with reimbursements on my Baby Teddy's medical expenses.

My boy Teddy has had a rough year and thanks to Nationwide Pet Insurance it has eased mom's anxiety money-wise. Whenever I've needed their advice they have always been there for us.

Coverage

Nationwide offers a variety of plans offering varying levels of coverage. The company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness, offers 90% reimbursement for accident, injury, illness and wellness care, inclusive of exam fees. All Nationwide members have complimentary 24/7 access to vethelpline.

Payout Limits

Depending on the plan selected, there may be annual benefit limits or per incident benefit allowances. There is no annual limit for the company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness.

Deductible

Annual deductibles range from $0 to $1,000. Most popular annual deductible for Whole Pet with Wellness is $250.

Age Limits

No age restriction to enroll in company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness. Other plans may have age restrictions.

Waiting Period

14-day waiting period after application approved and payment of premium is received.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered on any plans (if a condition is curable, it may be eligible for review if pet remains treatment-free for at least six months). Whole Pet with Wellness covers nearly all veterinary expenses. Notable exclusions include boarding and grooming.
