MetLife | Pet Insurance Review

The coverage is great. I have issues regarding communication and customer service. The claim turnaround time is longer than what is stated, but I understand there is a higher rate of claims. I did have an issue with a “pre-existing condition” because my pet had a previous UTI prior to coverage, but it was diagnostically resolved. When she had another UTI months later, I was denied coverage because of the previous UTI.

Over the course of my long life, I have never had pet insurance, but intuited that with Sage, my new dog who has mobility challenges and had been in a shelter for over a year, that I'd better get it. I was disappointed that when I sent in the first claim, I got nothing back, but do understand that pre-existing conditions prevented that. In the next two rounds of claims--for assessment and treatment with an integrative wellness veterinarian with whom she is doing laser sessions and gets adequan injections regularly and then for treatment for a hematoma with my regular vet--I did get refunds that helped with the significant vet bills I have had over the year. I have also been surprised and pleased at the quick return once the company receives the claims. The one time I spoke with a customer representative, she was cordial and efficient...

Always a great experience with MetLife! They have great service and are always speedy with their reimbursement process. The app is so simple to use. Best pet insurance out there!
