Thankful for Healthy Paws
When we adopted our rescue Skeeter I knew I wanted pet insurance. Prior to adopting Skeeter, we had adopted an English Bulldog and we passed up health insurance on him because of the cost. That was a huge mistake. There is nothing worse than having to make hard choices about your pets health because of the cost. Of course we always did what was necessary to provide our Bull Dog with the care he needed but it hurt us financially.
For Skeeter I researched almost all of the pet insurance plans out there and after reading Healthy Paws policy, we decided that was the right plan for us. For the first 1.5 years our minimal claims never met the deductible, so there was no payment to us.
Then this past Sunday my dog became very ill and was vomiting blood and passing blood through his feces. He’s had some digestive issues in the past but nothing like this. Monday I called my vet and they recommended the ER and advised he may need an x-ray or ultrasound.
That night I filed a claim and today (2 days later) I received an email that the claim was approved. What a relief to have Healthy Paws there for us in such a scary time.
Many of the negative complaints on here are no fault of Healthy Paws but rather the policy owner not understanding the policy. As the consumer it is your responsibility to know and understand what you are buying. I thoroughly read the policy and all the information related to how to file a claim and have never had an issue.
The major items to outline is that on your first claim you must send in a complete history of your pets medical records so they can determine pre-existing conditions. Exams are not covered and you have to meet the deductible before benefits are paid. One you meet the deductible it’s a coinsurance percentage that you chose upon purchase. Hope this helps!
Thank you Healthy Paws!
