Healthy Paws | Pet Insurance Review

After having Healthy paws for 5 years without much of a need for them, my dog began having spinal issues and IVDD surgery twice which I was billed $9k each time! The first time expensing it to Healthy Paws was a little bit of an effort since they do need the official full historical report from your vet before paying anything out. However, the second time was seamless--I had made 5 easy claims up to the point of the surgery and they quickly paid me out each time, all they need is the official invoices. Something important things to be mindful of that may result in disappointment--but I think these are the case with any pet insurance: 1. As far as I know--they do NOT COVER PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS or VISITATION FEES. The first is a bummer, the latter can rack up without realizing it. 2. Once you make a claim, you can't change your plan, so you're either locked in, or go somewhere else that won't cover any new pre-existing conditions that occurred while covered here. Outside of these, Healthy Paws really has great customer service on the phone every time I've called, and they've paid out quite quickly and efficiently on every claim.

I have had healthy paws insurance for my dog since he was a puppy, he is now almost 12. Before this year, I’ve really only used insurance one time for a minor issue. However, I never wanted to cancel my plan because you never know when something can happen. Unfortunately, this was the year that something did happen and my fur-baby needed to have lifesaving surgery to remove a 7lb tumor in his liver and a splenectomy. We didn’t have to think twice about the decision or worry about the costs. Healthypaws quickly and easily reimbursed us for the surgery and even checked in to make sure our pup was okay. They didn’t try to question a line item or get out of reimbursing, they honored our plan and made one huge part of this super stressful time as easy as possible. I highly recommend all pet owners have insurance and I absolutely recommend that insurance be Healthypaws.
