Best money I've spent in years!
I was very skeptical about pet insurance, but after incurring some hefty bills with my previous dog, I decided that for $32 a month I'd rather have the peace of mind. I signed up my new rescue dog, who was about four years old. A few months later (in April), she started showing signs of patellar luxation, but the vet could not confirm it at the time. I quickly went through my deductible with the medications he prescribed for pain management and joint health, and HP's coverage kicked in right away, no questions asked. More recently, an orthopedic surgeon did confirm patellar luxation. I contacted HP to see if I needed prior authorization for an MPL surgical correction and they said no. Once the surgeon was in there he found the cruciate ligament compromised and did a TPLO as well. I sent the itemized invoice to HP with some trepidation and they once again held up their end of the bargain. Even the vet clinic was impressed by how quickly they processed the claim. They are also very personable and helpful when I have questions, and they've checked in to see how my dog is doing since the surgery. My plan recently renewed and my rate has not changed! Insurance with HP is easily the best money I have spent in a long time.
