We should have known!

My husband signed up for this insurance because they made it sound so simple. Just send in your bills and they will be paid. It has been nothing but a hassle since we started needing it. I'm sure the vet even hates to see us come in. McKassie was taken to the vet due to lesions on her nose, a biopsy was done and she was diagnosed with lupus. First claim was sent in under wellness claim. Insurance deemed it was not a wellness claim as vet wrote in the observation box what his findings were. Embrace did deduct this amount from the deductible. Next claim was for the biopsey under anesthesia this claim was applied to deductible. When results returned vet ordered medication which was picked up by family member. Had to take McKassie back to vet due to bleeding gums and bruising on body, at this time I had him fill out form for meds that he had ordered along with this visit. He filled this form out as a wellness visit. This time embrace didn't even add this office visit to the deductible. On the "basic wellness rewards" info we printed off the site it says routine care wellness exams & office visits are covered. Apearantly going to the vet isn't an office visit? Between our health insurance and our dogs insurance it is a full time job of paper work.It is hard to give an overall rating as we haven't used any other pet insurance.

Wellness Claim

I neglected to check the date of last years yearly exam, heartworm test, vaccinations, they were not covered because I was a little to early and the claim was denied. I am still enrolled for 2013, so why does it really matter when my yearly exam is? I am only going to have one yearly exam, heartworm test and vaccines. My tip to other insured pet owners, remember our enrollment anniversary!

Very quick to reimburse for Well Care claim

Just done wellness exam on Friday July 19th, and purchased Heartgard. I received an email my reimbursement check has already been sent on Thursday July 18th, and for the exact amount I was expecting! I wish I had known about Embrace before I lost my sweet Boxer girl to arrhythmia cardiomyopathy. I had a different company and they did not pay ANYTHING, called it 'breed specific', and the paid almost nothing on well care.

I LOVE Embrace!

One of my dogs (8 pounds) was attacked by an unleashed owner-free much larger dog that charged us out of nowhere. The dog attempted to kill my dog but unfortunately didn't succeed but she did require a 5 day stay in the hospital with multiple tests and round the clock care. Embrace made the entire nightmare much easier by covering everything that I was entitled to with my policy in a very timely manner, hence allowing me to not have a large charge sitting on my credit card for an extended period of time!! Thanks Embrace for always being there for my dogs and I !

Iffy on Pet Insurance

We've had many dogs over the years, but this is our first experience with insurance. We thought to try it out when we got a new puppy. Unfortunately, the pup was a few months old by the time we signed up and, by then, had had two or three ear infections. (Common in our humidity-filled climate). Based on that, Embrace has denied several claims under the guise of dermatologic conditions. They said that even if our dog goes for a full year without another ear infection, they'll use the fact that she had ear infections in her early months as a means to deny any claims related to ear infections, dermatologic conditions and other internal infections. The customer service reps with whom I've spoken have all been quite nice, but they told me that, at this point, we won't be reimbursed basically for any claim other than orthopedic; they explained that pet insurance is NOT like health insurance. It's much more like property casualty insurance in which the insurer is more interested in denying claims than in promoting good pet health in order to avoid future claims. This seems to be less about Embrace, per se, than about the pet insurance industry overall.
