Unsatisfactory Experience
Dear Pet Owners,
I am writing this review to share my unfortunate experience with Embrace Pet Insurance and to caution prospective customers about potential challenges with their services. My aim is to provide an honest account of the issues I encountered with the company.
After our beloved 8-year-old Shih Tzu dog fell ill and required emergency care, we faced an $800 out-of-pocket expense as our previous pet plan did not cover such situations. To ensure better coverage for future incidents, we decided to explore other pet insurance options and settled on Embrace due to their endorsement by USAA. We enrolled our dog into their program and dutifully submitted all of her medical records for their review.
Approximately four months ago, our dog received a misdiagnosis of a mass in one of her eyes, leading us to consult an eye specialist. Fortunately, the diagnosis was found to be incorrect, and our dog was diagnosed with a yeast infection around the eye area instead. We promptly submitted our claim, only to be informed that it would not be covered due to a preexisting condition. Despite our dog requiring several follow-up visits, each incurring $180 in expenses, our claims were consistently denied on the same grounds.
In an effort to resolve the matter, we sought our veterinarian's professional opinion during one of our appointments, and they confirmed that the condition our dog experienced was unrelated to the preexisting condition cited by Embrace for the denials. To bolster our appeal, the veterinarian provided supporting documentation affirming the distinction between the two conditions. However, despite our efforts, we were met with a generic response from Embrace, persisting that our dog's coverage would not be extended due to the alleged preexisting condition.
Our frustration grew as subsequent communications with Embrace remained unyielding, and we reached out to express our concerns about their stance. Regrettably, we received a standardized, unaltered response, leading us to question the company's customer service, communication, and overall policies.
As a result, we find ourselves locked into a year-long contract with Embrace, obligating us to continue paying the monthly fee of $70 despite our dissatisfaction with the service provided. Our family invested in a product that has not delivered as expected, leaving us disappointed with the entire experience.
In conclusion, I earnestly advise prospective pet owners to think twice before considering Embrace Pet Insurance. While we initially hoped for a positive and reliable experience, our journey with the company has left us dissatisfied with their policies and the level of service received.
I hope this review serves as a valuable reference during your research for suitable pet insurance companies. We believe it is crucial to make informed decisions when it comes to protecting our beloved animal companions.
Sincerely,
John
Received this response on August 17, 2023 from Embrace regarding our negative experience. My response to their response is...
WE HAVE ALREADY BEEN DOWN THAT ROAD...Several emails regarding rejected claim(s) (plural) with questions about denials were sent and were always replied to with canned responses stating 'pre-existing condition'. We pointed out what the veterinarian scribed in the Dr.s notes stating otherwise and were still denied any reimbursement. My advice to anyone considering Embrace as their choice for pet insurance is if you are transferring to Embrace with any kind of medical history on your pet, go elsewhere. I may as well be holding $70 dollars over a candle flame every month and get the same results.
