Pet insurance will be a $35 BILLION…
Pet insurance will be a $35 BILLION dollar industry by 2030. They have seen an increase of 17% year over year increase. The key factor driving the industry growth includes increasing veterinary care costs as a result of advancements in medical technology and treatments. So, OF COURSE crappy companies like EMBRACE will be involved. California is the ONLY state that regulates the pet industry, so if you own a pet in that state and EMBRACE tries to play games with you, you have alternatives available to you...I live in SC.
Now EMBRACE is an ONLINE company and as a result, has a FULL SOCIAL media team to address each and every issue...like they care. I can assure you, they do not. The goal is ALWAYS to avoid payment on a claim. They ALWAYS have some BS answer why they won't cover something. EMBRACE is a total insult. I expect them to try to delete this report but just look here on the BBB site. 141 complaints in the past 3 years. BBB claims the complaints where closed...that means EMBRACE responded. That DOESN'T mean the matter was resolved!
EMBRACE embraces the term"pre- existing condition" as justification behind denial. In my dogs case, there was NO pre-existing condition and EMBRACE denied $9,000 of medical expenses I paid myself AFTER paying them their policy fee for coverage.
They define pre-existing as:
a. A Chronic Condition observed by you or your Veterinary Provider prior to the end of the Waiting Period for your Pet(s) and any related conditions;
b. An Illness or Injury that first occurred or showed Clinical Signs prior to the end of the Waiting Period for your Pet and any related conditions.
c. Undiagnosed conditions with the same Clinical Signs as those in a. or b. above are also considered pre-existing.
So, I would HIGHLY recommend that YOU fully understand your policy because if you don't they won't pay. PERIOD. End of story.
Be certain that you know exactly what your VET is notating in your pet's file and HOW they are notating it. These notes are crucial on being reimbursed.
Overall, there are SO many companies FAR more supportive and helpful to owners. Please look around. You will find EMBRACE has the reputation of avoiding payment and denying claims.
