My first time with pet insurance

My first time with pet insurance. Because I love USAA so much I decided to try Embrace. Now I am second guessing myself. I have had Embrace for over a year my monthly went from $68.00 per month to $95.33 monthly. Every claim has been denied except a $19.00 payment that was applied to my deductible. I feel like I am just giving Embrace money to just give them money. I can't afford to just give them money and pay my Vet bill as well. Will cancel this policy soon. Will not and can not recommend. Hate USAA is standing behind this insurance.

Marie, the CSR who patiently walked me through & explained why my premium went up so much and cancelled it at my request in a very understanding manner. Then, when I reconsidered & decided to keep my younger cat on the policy, nicely helped me re-instate my policy & then remove my senior cat. She put up with a lot. Embrace should give her a raise. Also, Embrace, I have been with you for a long time now. Why are my premiums higher than a new customer's premium? Backwards thinking.

Lily Mae

In all honesty, when I was considering pet insurance I was thinking it would be years before I’d even use it, then in August my beautiful Lily Mae started a cough and slowing down, off to the vet we went, and our journey has been long, after 2 visits X-rays revealed she had pneumonia and blood tests told us she had underlying Valley Fever. I tell all this, to let you know that going to the vet multiple times, it was a hidden relief knowing that there wasn’t that burden of how am I going to pay for this, or how far do I go to make my girl happy. The bill submission is easy, although and unfortunately practice did make perfect!! LoL. All my dogs have been healthy and happy, so this curveball that was thrown our way it was nice that Embrace had our back

Premiums SKYROCKETING

Premiums going from $68/mo to $110/mo? That’s absurd. Sure I guess it’s nice piece of mind to pay that every month while knowing we’d still have to shell out $2k deductible God forbid something catastrophic happens, but come on! That’s a wild increase!

Monthly Cost

$13 – $100, depending on your chosen plan.

Coverage

You have a co-pay of 10%, 20% or 30% after your deductible, depending on your chosen plan. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill.

Payout Limits

Annual limit of $2000, $5000, $10,000 or $15,000.

Deductible

Annual deductible options from $100 – $1,000.

Age Limits

Pet must be at least 6 weeks old to enroll. New pets over 14 are eligible for accident-only coverage. Once enrolled, pets can stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

There is a two-week illness waiting period, which begins on your policies’ effective date. Orthopedic conditions have additional Waiting or exclusion periods that vary by state.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Hereditary and congenital conditions are covered if they have not been diagnosed or suspected before the policy becomes active. Main plan covers alternative treatments such as chiropractic, acupuncture and homeopathic when provided by a licensed veterinarian. Optional wellness and prescription drug plans are available for an additional cost.
