So far all of my claims have been…denied

So far all of my claims have been manipulated to fall under the categories of the 2 conditions my dog was treated for prior to having insurance. So I’ve paid $825 for insurance….& over $1k in vet bills that I am going to continue to protest . I want my new puppy to be insured but this is not encouraging me. I understand the onset would secure coverage but modifying & extracting small details from a larger condition/visit to provide reason to NOT cover is horrible business.

Stay away from embrace

Most of my claims have been denied due to being labeled as pre-existing conditions. For example, last November, my kitten had diarrhea due to a Giardia infection, but the claim was rejected as pre-existing because the kitten had multiple infections after being recently adopted. In June, now a fully grown cat, it developed a Clostridium infection, again with diarrhea as a symptom. This claim was also denied, solely because diarrhea was a common symptom between the two infections and they called diahhera (a symptom) a pre existing condition. Can you imagine ? It seems like a scam stay away! Update (09/17/2024): The company responded to my negative review on Trustpilot, citing the issue of a pre-existing condition. However, I’m still unclear about the distinction they make between a pre-existing condition and symptoms of a condition. Diarrhea is a symptom, not a condition itself, and in this case, the underlying condition is not pre-existing. Yet, they fail to recognize this or have structured their policy so that if two different conditions share the same symptom, they won’t cover it. I appealed their decision 24 hours ago and have yet to receive any response.

I do not recommend Embrace

I do not recommend Embrace. After taking over a month to review my claims, Embrace denied due to "pre-existing condition". I canceled because I was worried that they would find an excuse to make everything a pre-existing condition for my 4yr old rescue dog. I will say that it was simple to cancel.

I was recently attacked by 3 dogs.. and still had to fight this claim to cover my hero!!

I was recently attacked by 3 dogs. My rescue pup jumped out of my car and saved my life. I then had to fight for weeks to prove that my dog's claim deserved reimbursement. He hadn't seen a vet in over a year so the illness waiting period would be an issue... but this wasn't an illness. This was an accident. The reps explained to me that they needed a full vet report to disclose his disposition, to ensure that it wasn't my dog's aggression that caused this injury. You heard that I was attacked by three 60-lb dogs, and my 30-lb, 3-legged rescue mutt saved my life, right? Like, this whole thing was an accident? And I might be dead if it weren't for my heroic dog's actions? Still, without a vet report, they couldn't honor this claim. In the 11th hour, after crying to a very understanding phone rep, I realized that my dog had a foxtail removed from the same urgent care vet that he went to after the attack. They had the full report. So fortunately, I am being awarded the claim. It's not a ton of money, but it's the principal. I had switched to Embrace from Trupanion. I NEVER had any issues with a claim from them over many years of using them for my cat. I had pleasant experiences on the phone with people but the human I was emailing with was curt and her negative tone made it hard to understand, even when she was telling me something that would help me. All I was seeking was compassion during this trying time, and my main / repeated contact over there was harsh and unkind. Embrace has a lot of making up to do, in my mind. Or I'll be searching for another insurance company soon.
