This is the worst pet health insurance…

This is the worst pet health insurance I have ever had. Every single time I file a claim, they say it is pre-existing. For instance, my horse had a cut on her butt. She also had a cut on her chest. Neither of these were tracked by a vet ever before the day of treatment. They said that because she had a cut in two places, she was ineligible for coverage.

Claim denied…

My claim was denied for my dog because she had the same problem last year- she was having trouble with her hind legs At that time, the neurologist wanted to do an mri on her spine but I could not afford the $6000 bill because she was having dental surgery, which also cost 💲 6000 . I finally was able to get the mri done this year and ASPCA insurance will not pay a single dime of the bill since she saw the doctor last year for this problem.

The math isn’t mathing…

My teacup yorkie was surrendered to me in May with a pre-existing condition (broken bone) which already knew they can’t do anything about. Got this insurance in July specifically for wellness checks, shots, and dental cleanings. The extras I pay monthly are a plus.Took my teacup yorkie in Sept for a dental cleaning only. Went ahead and had his vet do a fecal test, got his Trio (flea, tick, and heartworm chew) along with some other things I knew that “were covered” with his plan that I chose with add-ons. Almost $900 paid up front. My plan’s Deductible is $100 and 90% reimbursement. Submitted the claim. In the EOB they put in there under “accident and illness” they tried to contact the vet to get info on him from sept 2023 to now. I didn’t have that info but he wasn’t sick nor was he there for an accident. I called the previous owners got the info and added that info to my claim…. I got way less than 90% of the almost $900 paid up front. Somebody make it make sense.

Very fast claims process

Very fast claims process. We are very new to the pet insurance industry. Will need some time. But our first claim was really quick.

Monthly Cost

Rates start at: $10 (for accident only), $16 (Complete Coverage). Rates vary based on species, age, breed, and location.

Coverage

The pay-out amount is based on the actual vet bill, at a rate pre-selected by the customer: 90%, 80% or 70%

Payout Limits

Annual limits can be set by the customer, ranging from $2,500 to $20,000, including an unlimited option. No lifetime limits.

Deductible

$100, $250 or $500 annually.

Age Limits

No upper age limits. Pets must be at least 8 weeks old to enroll.

Waiting Period

There are no waiting periods for preventive care. Coverage begins 14 days after date listed on policy for accidents, illnesses, and knee/ligament conditions.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions, cosmetic procedures and breeding costs are not covered. ASPCA Pet Health Insurance has two Preventive Care plans that can be added to help cover a pet’s wellness care, including annual exams, vaccinations, tests, dental cleanings and flea/heartworm preventive. Preventive Care plans reimburse up to a set amount for each listed treatment. If your pet exhibited symptoms of a knee and ligament condition at any time, prior to enrollment or during a waiting period, all ligament and knee conditions will be excluded. Ligament and Knee are conditions involving a ligament, patella, meniscus or soft tissue disorder of the knee. Accident-Only coverage available.
