Great Customer Service

We had AKC with our mixed breed Jack since the beginning of this year (2018). We adopted a Australian Shepherd pup and spoke with Amy who thoroughly explained all our options for what would be the best coverage for her and Jack. I didn't feel she was pushing any one policy; she answered all our questions, and we are very satisfied with such excellent customer service.

Confusing

More thorough and standardized explanations of benefits would be appreciated. I have heard different explanations from different agents, culminating in confusion and frustration.

My 11 month old Yellow Lab was treated…

My 11 month old Yellow Lab was treated for a drug toxicity and I was so afraid the extensive vet bills would certain break me! I was so pleased and relieved when I received a substantial reimbursement on the claim! It was so fast and easy! I would recommend this insurance to anyone. It has already more than paid for itself!

Monthly Cost

$5 – $90 depending on coverage options chosen.

Coverage

You have a co-pay of 20% after your annual deductible. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill.

Payout Limits

Per incident limit of $1,500 – $8,000 and annual limits of $3,000 – $16,000 depending on your chosen plan.

Deductible

Choose from $100 – $1,000 annual deductible.

Age Limits

Pets must be at least 8 weeks old to enroll with no upper age limit. Coverage options available for senior pets.

Waiting Period

Coverage goes into effect one day after enrollment. There is a 5-day wait period for accident claims and 14-day wait period for illness claims. AKC Pet Insurance provides 30 days of accident and illness insurance coverage included with AKC registration for newly registered puppies.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Customizable plans allow you to add-on coverage for inherited and congenital conditions, exam fees and wellness care. Cancer coverage included in base accident and illness plan.
