How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Petinary Clinic

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.

Communication Preferences

Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.

Breed Specific Health Considerations

Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.

I've been coming to Dr. Mike for over a decade now. He treated my last senior kitty, and when it was time to euthanize him, he made a house call so we could say goodbye at home; it was so much better than my last experience putting a kitty to sleep. He's been wonderful with my current cats, including the one who is so scared that it's a traumatic experience for everyone involved. He came over for a house call just last weekend to get her up-to-date on her vaccinations. If you need a vet who's going to be more friendly to you than your pet, he might not be the vet for you; he can be on the brusque side at times. However, it's very clear that Dr. Mike cares deeply about his patients, treats them with respect, and wants to do what's best for them. I'd rather have that any day.

This veterinarian is an expert. He always knows what’s actually best for our dog. From dental care, to diet, to preventing parasites, he knows based on the latest research and experience. His pricing is super reasonable—definitely costs less than larger clinics we’ve been to in the past. Our dog is more comfortable at this office than he ever was at other clinics.

Mike the Vet is honestly the best. I brought in my cat EMT, who’s usually a nervous wreck at any vet, but with Mike, everything felt different. He spoke to EMT like she was a little person, gave her space, patience, and kindness, and somehow she actually stayed calm. That never happens. Mike made me feel heard too. He explained things in simple terms, didn’t rush us, and you can tell he really cares. Not just about animals, but about the people who love them. Thanks Mike!

Dr. Mike is amazing with animals—he took such great care of our cat and made us feel at ease the whole time. Friendly, professional, and genuinely cares about every pet. Highly recommend!

My cat was seemingly lethargic and I was able to make an appointment for the very next morning. Dr. Kohn was no-nonsense, but he also wasn't in a rush. While he wasn't exactly polite, I trusted his honesty. He did not push vaccines and basically saved me a lot of money and my cat a lot of stress. He took the time to address all my concerns and was clearly well-versed in animal behavior. He examined my cat on the floor where my cat was comfortable. I thought we were over-due for vaccines, but he assured me that cats are over-vaccinated and the plethora of vaccines I've already given my cat throughout his life have him well-protected for the next several months at least. While unorthodox, definitely the best vet experience we've ever had.
