How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Irongate Equine Clinic

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I am somewhat new to the horse world, and I just rescued, what they called, a yearling Pintaloosa from a kill pen. Dr. Ketone was amazing. He taught me a lot in the time that he took to examine our little man. To find out our "yearling" turned out to be only about 9 months old. He also taught me all the things to know about getting a horse from a sale barn/kill pen. Also, having a student, and teaching her things also was very awesome to see. I would highly recommend.

Dr. Ketover is outstanding, he took the time to explain everything in great deal to me. At no point did it feel like he was in a hurry. He was fully committed to the care of my horse. The best equine veterinary care in the Madison area period!

We are extremely happy with the care our horses have received from the vets and techs. They are extremely responsive, explain everything in layman terms and take great care of our babies!

Dr. Alderman checked two of my horses for teeth floating ( one had not been done for 4 years) and reported that neither one was in need at this time. It's refreshing to have veterinarians who don't do procedures that aren't necessary.
