How to Save Money at Arrow Animal Urgent Care

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

They took Great quick care of my doggo when he needed stitches on his lip after kissing my friends ski in the back country when my friend fell into a small melted tree well. They saw him that evening but it was too late to sedate him. So they gave us antibiotics and pain medications and were able to take him in first thing in the morning g to sedate him. They stitched him up Great. I was recommended to them by The emergency Vet as this was not an emergency since the bleeding stopped. Thanks so much Arrow urgent care.

Had a great experience in every aspect! One of my cats ate something he wasn’t supposed to and was very lethargic, vomiting, etc. Of course it happened on the weekend and our regular vet was closed. I was frantically searching for walk in vet clinics and came across Arrow Animal Urgent Care. I thought it was brilliant that they have updated current wait times on their website. We entered the clinic and it was super easy to get on the wait list. We filled out a couple forms and only waited 10 minutes max before we got placed in a room. The vet assistant who helped us was amazing and our vet Dr. Wieringa was friendly and caring. She didn’t think our cat had an obstruction from her exam, but we went ahead and got x-rays done for piece of mind. We were in an out after about 2 hours and left with meds. I honestly didn’t think the price was too bad. I’m just so thankful they are open 7 days a week and were able to see my cat when no else could. Our cat is back to his normal rambunctious self and I couldn’t be happier. They also had cute cat stickers that were free at the front desk and it just made the experience even better. Thank you again! :)

My pup was suddenly limping after a big nature day out on the trail. Nothing obvious when I bathed her maybe some swelling between her back toes but no whining or yelling. I have a doodle and she is usually running on 1000% even after big hikes but she was cuddly and it just didn’t sit right with me. I called Arrow Animal urgent care after speaking with her primary care vet (who can’t see her until August 8!) There was about a 30 minute wait (kept updated on the website!) so after a short nap took the pup on a Friday afternoon. Filled out some paperwork. Got taken back within fifteen minutes and had excellent vet care. Dr Wieringa was so thorough and gentle and we found what we hope is the culprit (a puncture wound under the fluff!). She didn’t push further imaging or procedures at this time and as a doctor for humans I appreciated the return precautions. Hope to not have to go back to them again but we had a great experience.

I took my dog here because he got something stuck in his eye. Turned out to be a foxtail! We had a great experience here. The vet was super caring and knowledgeable. I felt safe leaving my dog in her care. Also reasonable wait time and pricing. Would definitely recommend to anyone!

They only have walk in appointments so be prepared for a long wait. We didn't wait in the lobby, we waited in my car with my cat. They called us when they had a room ready. The parking lot is small and limited. Use the next door parking lot. But when we did see them, it was worth the wait. They truly love animals and it shows in their work. Also, it wasn't as expensive as I feared.
