How to Save Money at Animal Dental Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Early in 2022 my vet let me know after my dogs cleaning that it may be best for her next visit to see a Vet that specializes in dental care. I did some research and in December of 2022 I brought my 10-year-old pug Lucy to Animal Dental Clinic to see Dr. Hall. I elected for the consultation and procedure since I had a pretty good idea, she would need some sort of work done. Dr. Hall came in to evaluate Lucy and I have to say I was so impressed that he just got on the floor with her and played with her while talking to me about her background. I found him doing this versus coming in and sweeping her up onto the examining table really made a difference for her. Dr. Hall then took her back and did general consultation and he and his staff went through and explained what was happening with each tooth in her mouth and their suggestions for treatment. What I appreciated here was there was no shaming on if I had come to us sooner some things would not be an issue and that they took into consideration the amount of work she would need and cost. Talking through options and if we could do some of her treatment now and more down the line. They put no pressure or guilt on me at all. I elected to have one procedure and have all of her teeth removed. I chose to do this because some of her teeth needed to come out now and the others would need to come out down the line so I felt it was best to a one and done now versus this being a back-and-forth thing and taking into consideration her breed and age the idea of a few surgeries and recovery may not be best. Well then, the fun began and Lucy’s extractions turned into more extensive work. Dr. Hall and his staff called me all through surgery when there a choice to be made or if the original plan was changing. Again, through her procedure there was no pressure or guilt on what they feel should be done. They provided me the options and pros and cons of them and let me come to the determination I felt was best. After Lucy’s surgery Cristal took the time to go through her treatment plan, how to do home care, how to give Lucy her medicine, what to look for and be concerned about. She took time to provide some suggestions for helping Lucy if she was difficult in getting her medicine and such. She truly made it clear if I had questions or concerns call anytime and leave a message. Two days after surgery Lucy was doing well all things considered but I noticed she started to have a bad smell on her mouth. I called during a holiday weekend and the office was closed and left a message. They called back within and hour and let me know they would like to see her sooner and we were back in the office on Monday on a holiday. The best way I can explain what happened is some of the work that was done did not hold and sutures broke. This can be common with the breed and due to the extensive work that was done. What we chose to do what is called secondary intention healing which means the wound will be left open (rather than being stitched together) and left to heal by itself, filling in and closing up naturally. This was less invasive and would require weekly appointments to see if things were doing better. This would a be slow process of healing. For about a month the office would call daily and check in and I would bring Lucy in for an in person check in weekly or bi-weekly as Dr. Hall felt was best. After a little over a month Lucy is doing fantastic. She is all healed up, her energy is higher than it was pre-surgery. I have also noticed that she no longer has yucky eye discharge and she no longer has what I thought was seasonal coughing and sneezing. I highly recommend Dr. Hall and his staff. I wish I had known there were vets that their primary specialty is dental care in animals. I will take Dr. Hall’s advice and with any pet in the future bring them in sooner so they can get ahead of some of these large issues or to preventative care starting as a puppy. *Picture attached is her last appointment. Looking gray but all healed up.

These people are complete crooks.  They will tell you about all the pro-bono work that they do...Yeah, it is because they are stealing from the little guy. That is how all their free trips are paid for. This guy will rob you blind. Quote you on a price and then you will end up poor in the end.  I acknowledge all the below comments and he is condescending. Hopefully, if enough people begin to speak up, he can be put out of practice. He will milk you to become rich. There are plenty of better places to go in the area.  DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!

Our dog had two previous dental surgeries with other veterinarians and still had exposed roots and was in pain. I met Cristal and saw her scrubs that said Animal Dental Clinic and began telling her about Ace's experience. She told me to bring him into the clinic the next and they would take care of him. We arrived at the Animal Dental Clinic the next morning and spoke with Dr. Hall for over an hour. With previous veterinarians, they are always in a rush to get you in and out. Dr. Hall explained everything to us, showed us photos and models to ensure that we understood all of his recommendations, and did not push us into a decision. We decided to do surgery that same day. Dr. Hall extracted 8 teeth, along with the remaining chunk of a canine tooth that was left behind in a previous surgery by another veterinarian. One week later and Ace is better than he has been in months since this nightmare began! He is pain-free, has gained weight, and is happy and playful again. Dr. Hall also called the next day to check on Ace and to ask if we had any questions or concerns. I now know that it is essential to take your dog to someone who specializes in the mouth for any dental work. We could have saved thousands of dollars and saved our dog a lot of pain if we would have gone to Dr. Hall first! Cristal is very kind and gentle with the animals. They truly treat your animals like family. I HIGHLY recommend Animal Dental Clinic!

I had a similar experience when we took our cat in for a simple dental procedure. Received a call from their office pushing for several extra things to be done. We had no issue with the expense but the aggressive nature of the office staff and lack of transparency was very concerning. Not much we could do cat was already under. Our cat has many issues now after the procedure and this is what is the most concerning part for our family. Stay away. Hesitated posting but saw another review and prompted me to act as well. Do yourself a favor chose another vet dental clinic.

I wish I could give ten stars! Dr. Barron Hall and Cristal, the office manager, are incredible. Besides both of them being overwhelmingly nice, it is clear their love of animals and their love of working with animals is partly why they are so happy and kind. I took my girl Georgie there this morning. Georgie was diagnosed with a salivary gland disorder. My vet said she would need surgery. I did some research and found a top vet, Dr. Hall. By chance, I called shortly after closing and Dr. Hall answered the phone. So personable and knowledgeable. I made a consultation appointment and went in days later. Cristal was so kind getting the paperwork together and photographing Georgie. Georgie is a great judge of character. Usually timid, she immediately loved Cristal. When Dr. Hall came in, Georgie immediately liked him, too. Like aI said, great judge of character. With Dr. Hall you will find an expert who loves his job. You will also find a super kind and honest man. His is principled. He won’t perform a surgery just to make a buck. He wants what is right for the animal. If an animal (in this case my dog Georgie) has a situation that has a chance of remedying itself and is not in imminent danger, he offers sound advice. It may be that it comes to surgery one day, maybe not. Why take the risk and pay the price? Most vets would push the surgery. They are business people. Dr. Hall is rare. What a great person. I can see why he is so popular and why his reviews so great! Look no further. If your dog/animals is in need of expert dental advice and beyond, you will feel confident that your animal is in the best possible hands. Oh, and I believe I read he has worked at animals at the National Zoo! So like I said, I wish I could double his excellence with stars , but I will just have to give him the most stars allowed. Thank you Dr. Hall, Cristal and the entire Animal Dental Clinic practice!
