How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Ally Urgent Veterinary Care

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I took my sick fur baby to Ally Urgent Vet Care in Chesapeake on the recommendation from Hickory Animal Hospital because they had already closed for the day on the weekend. When you walk into Ally, we were warmly greeted by the receptionist. It was very calming and had a serene color palette. The patient rooms are clean and have comfortable seating while you wait. We were immediately met by our vet technician, Gracie, once we were roomed. She took all of our information on our sick fur baby and ran vitals quickly. We then met Dr. Dean who expressed compassion and empathy toward our fur baby. We were given two options for financial responsibility of what to do for our sick fur baby. This made the process very easy and transparent. We chose to obtain full tests that were recommended and that was for labs, x-rays, and a fecal exam. It also included medications for antibiotics and anti-nausea. Dr. Dean also made recommendations to temporarily change the dietary needs for our fur baby as she recovers. All of our questions were answered efficiently and professionally by Dr. Dean. We were very pleased with our visit.

I am very disappointed with Allys care of my dog. We went in due to my dog having bloody diarrhea. They recommended Xrays, bloodwork, fluids, etc, coming to a total of $900, all of which I approved. The single most important thing, a fecal, was never done, nor was I told to go to my primary vet & have one done if it couldn’t be completed there. 2 hours and almost a grand later with bloodwork & x-rays that showed nothing, she was diagnosed with gastritis & sent home with probiotics. Since her symptoms continued I brought her to my primary vet where a $30 & 10 minute fecal test revealed she had rods & giardia. She needed antibiotics. The probiotics we were sent home with by Ally wouldn’t have even cured her!!!! I’m thankful that Ally saw us urgently, however the entire visit was a waste. All the tests they recommended showed absolutely nothing, the diagnosis was wrong & purely based on a guess & only IMAGES of her poop from my phone which the veterinarian didn’t even look at, only the tech, all for the insane price of $900. I will absolutely not be coming back nor recommending this location to anyone. I’m honestly in disbelief at how incorrectly my pet was treated & diagnosed at this facility.
