How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Banfield Pet Hospital
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Love, love, love these folks. We live and travel in a 34’ coach and we have visited a handful of Banfield across the country. The veterinarians and the support staff are passionate about what they do and it shows. I never worry about the level of care our kitties will receive and tbh they always return home happy and trauma free. I read a lot of reviews that cast the wellness plans in a negative light. It isn’t for everyone. But for us, since we are often on the road and don’t always arrive at our destination as planned, the peace of mind that the wellness plan provides us can not be understated. One issue: the surgical schedule is packed and it has been difficult to schedule the surgical extractions that my fella, Django needs. That’s not the fault of Banfield so much as it’s because of our continued travels. Although each new office needs to do a once over before scheduling the surgery, I appreciate that they take the necessary steps to ensure that the surgery will be successful and free of surprises.

Super friendly staff! I've been going here with my family dogs since before I can even remember! They are so caring and treat each animal like it's their own!

Banfield is great. I love the wellness plan options for my pets. I love the care they give them and how they treat them. All the care you need under one roof.

We have a membership with them, so I take our pets and quite often and we’ve had a surprising number of problems with them. Once, my dog very obviously had strep throat because all the children had it and she would also get it, and we had to beg them to give her antibiotics, and when we finally got them, they cleared up her infection in less than 24 hours, but they were telling us that there wasn’t a reason to give her antibiotics. This time, they called me to say that my dog was ready to pick up, but an hour and 15 minutes later, she still wasn’t and They had me wait for half an hour.

Carried their insurance on my dog for over 6 years. When it came time to an emergency and he had a bad limp they couldn’t see him for 4 weeks. Had to take him to another vet to find out he had a torn acl and did the surgery through the other vet. I would save your money and go with a more universal coverage plan. These guys are like socialized medicine. If you need immediate care for an important issue it won’t happen.
