How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Crossroads Animal Clinic

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

My wife made an appointment with Crossroads for our English Bull Terrier to receive a rabies vaccine, have his nails and pads trimmed, and receive an evaluation on having his teeth cleaned at a later date. After having my dog weighed I was asked to wait in an exam room with my dog. A young lady came into the exam room and introduced herself as a nurse. She then said she understood my dog was there for a rabies vaccine and I said that wasn’t all he was there for. She said, oh and to have his nails trimmed. I said is that all you have? She said yes is there something else? I told her he also needs his pads trimmed and he needs to be sedated for his nail and pad trimming. She said that would be up to the vet to decide. This is not the first, or second time we have had our dogs nails or pads trimmed at this clinic. I started to get worried about what kind of care my dog was going to get considering the lack of communication between the person who took the appointment and the people who were going to be treating my dog. When my wife made the appointment she was told how much the service would cost. Question: if the “nurse “ didn’t know what services were to be provided how would they know how much it would cost?”. Long story short… I would recommend you not take your family members to this veterinary clinic. I would recommend getting a referral from someone you trust. These people evidently have more business than they can handle and don’t care for you coming to see them or not.

I've brought my dog Rapunzel here and when I do bring her I hear the techs and the doctors get so excited just about her presence in the back while I'm in the exam room. All of the employees I've met with have been great and really patient with her, even though she's insane and likes to surprise strangers with hugs. They make sure to tell her she's a good girl when they give her shots and they explained everything to me in a way I could understand. She was having a lot of trouble gaining weight, and the first food the vet recommended helped her gain ten pounds and get her to a healthy weight. I love this vet and I don't see myself bringing her anywhere else

HORRIBLE! I had only been in Waco 1 week and my 13yo yorkie took a turn for the worse. On referral, I took him in for help w/end of life decision. The receptionist seemed to feel my pain, she went to speak w/Vet and told me "they don't take walk in's", then gave me a referral as my dog lay dying in my arms. I was hurt at the lack of compassion from a Vet 😞. So I guess I can say.."I wouldn't take a dying dog there", literally!

We took Rainbow in for her annual checkup and vaccines and had a great experience as always! Dr. Edwards and technician Haleigh were very patient, thorough, and sweet! They are both very personable and you feel comfortable asking them questions and talking to them. Rainbow was left to me after her first mom went to Heaven and they were able to help me figure out how to get her microchip registered to me as well, which took some extra time but they took the time to get me the info I needed so we could get Rainbow's microchip securely registered. The receptionist today was very sweet also- I didn't get her name- and Kristin and Nelda are always amazing as well.
